    Excellent foundational stuff, delivered in your inimitable style: friendly, engaging, enthusiastic as an "A-for Agressive" brigadier. The best of its kind I've yet seen. You cover a LOT of ground in just 23 minutes!!!

    Best teaching video I've seen on this series! The production quality (sound, zoom, etc.) were excellent and the info was superb. Teach me like I'm a 12-year old! So awesome....first time I've felt that I really "get it" with GBACW. Please please PLEASE do more of these and cover movement, combat, etc!!!

      Thank you so much Kai, I really appreciate that. It appears I may need to do more. If you dig through my library you will find like 6 or 8 Episodes of instruction on the series, might need to update a few of them.

    Hey Jeff, I recently discovered a tidbit I found fascinating. It turns out, Polk's first name was phonetically pronounced Lee-ON-i-dis.

    I love the style of this game, the complexity etc is just right. However, in actual gameplay I can't help thinking the Rebs are way overpowered. In my preliminary playings of Death Valley, it's just been too easy. And the Sharpshooter units? Fuggedaboudit! They're like something out of Warhammer. Maybe I just haven't found the right scenario yet. I'll keep plugging. Thanks for all you do, Hex. Enjoy the vids!

      Thanks Don. GBACW is phenomenal. I, personally, have not put the Sharpshooters to use yet, at least not efficiently.

    I like that they use the stars to show command level - very easy

    • @Stiglr
      @Stiglr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It also helps to remember that they also reflect the DRM they lend to UDDs. We call them "stars of influence".

      Yes, simplified.

    Just getting into this system so thanks that was all very clear. My one remaining confusion is Artillery formations. I think that if it has been assigned to a Division, it will use that Division's AM to activate and if it has been assigned to a Regiment, it will activate with that Regiment. If it is independent it will get its own Artillery AM marker. Have I got that right? Have I left out any Artillery command possibilities (excepting SSRs)?
    I have 3DoG and Into The Woods. I was going to start my GBACW adventures with Herr's Ridge from 3DoG but now I have ITW, would you recommend better starting scenarios from that game?
    Thanks again for the video (and for the many others I have watched over the years!)

    • @Hex2Hex
      @Hex2Hex  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Less Woods in 3DoG. ItW has a starter Scenario that is really good. As for Artillery, some of the games provide an ARTILLERY AM, and in some games the artillery is assigned to Brigades/Divisions and activate with such.

    Hey Hex, what's the story with the Corp Commander AMs? I couldn't find anything about them in the book.

    • @Hex2Hex
      @Hex2Hex  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no Activation Markers for Corps. You draw Efficiency Markers for Corps Commanders to determine how many Activation Markers that Corps Divisions will receive.

    • @patjacksonpodium
      @patjacksonpodium ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hex2Hex Right, but there's 4 AMs each in Into The Woods for Hardee, Breckenridge, Polk, and Bragg that say "[Their name] Command." They've each got a flag on them. Any idea what those are for?

    • @Hex2Hex
      @Hex2Hex  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patjacksonpodium that's right, because you have Johnson and Beauregard as the OCs. I will look at it when I get home this evening and give you a proper explanation.

    • @Hex2Hex
      @Hex2Hex  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OK, those counters are used for the 2nd Day Historical Scenario. You do not use the normal activations for the divisions, instead you use those CORPS ACTIVATIONS to activate all divisions of that Corps. Unassigned units will still use UNASSIGNED UNIT AMs. BB Page 40, bottom of right column.

      @@Hex2Hex Ah HA! They were trying to trick me. I thought I was going crazy lol. Thanks for the heads up. I'm still really struggling to make sense of this game. It's like reading a lawsuit lol. But your videos make it so much more clear than the rules. Perhaps someday soon I'll be actually able to push some cardboard around.
