Come on lads. Even taking your reasoning and the context you're expressing, AFL players are paid well. Yes, comparatively to other sports it may be lower, and as a percentage of industry revenue it's not as high as other sports, but fact remains that you get paid very well. Plenty of other jobs are 24/7 stressful (albeit perhaps not always in the public eye, granted), plenty of other jobs ruin your body (trades etc.) and do not get compensated anywhere near as much, let alone all the other perks that come along with being an AFL footballer. To say $300,000 - $1,000,000 is not paid well enough to train and play the game you love is wild. Even with the stresses that undoubtedly come with it, and the wear on your body. Think of nurses, teachers, ambos - the list goes on. Context is definitely relevant, as you say. Good poddy boys.
