I've been smitten with Norah Jones for decades. She is a national and world treasure, and these private, intimate, home-concerts from her are a great privilege for us to have in these times.

It's a beautiful concert Nora. I remember when I was 12 years old, my parents took us camping at the Interlochen State Park in Interlochen Michigan. The Interlochen arts academy was right across the street. In the evening we walked across the highway, to see a free concert that the academy was putting on. This was my first concert. Willie Nelson was finishing up his set. he was the last to perform. The students all left and the band continue to play for the handful of us that were in there. Maybe 15 people. He put my two-year-old cousin onstage so she could dance around. He signed my sister's krutch, for she had broke her ankle a month prior. Willy shook my hand. Years later my mother remarried. My stepfather, Paul Block RIP, rented a house from Willy in California when he was in his early 20's. He always spoke highly of him. Point I'm trying to make is that Willy Nelson has a way of being part of your life. Thanks Willy! Thanks Nora!

Good lord this is perfect. Just watched her "Black Hole Sun" cover. I'd give anything to play one 1000th this perfectly. Also love that she's got a little ol upright she's playing at home. I'll never feel too good for a piano again.
I think of my Grandfather when dementia took over, we'd set him at the piano, & he'd instantly start jamming (& we'd be wailing)😊

Not really. Some musicians are actually artists and performers that play from the heart.
The concerts one attends where the musicians have music stands and sheet music in front of them are different in a fundamental way. (Symphonic Orchestras etc)
It has nothing to do with musical ability or technical knowledge about music or theory.
Check out all the great musicians - what makes them unique? What common thread unites them?
Once they have the key and chord progressions of a song down, professional musicians play by ear as Petra said. Mastery comes with the tens of 1000's of hours of practice.
It's the difference between a home cook with a written recipe and a lead chef working from fundamentals and the materials at hand.
I didnt think so, she is jazz artist they play with mood and ear this kind of artist is just like painter that will paint differently on each painting, thats the difference with music player from music conservatory that print out the music exactly in the same tunes and tempo for each composition they played. Thats is the art and beauty of jazz
