    I literally don’t wear any style of clothing you discuss but I binge this channel because it’s so interesting and your passion for it carries through and makes the videos more enjoyable

    Excellent. Tony & Dean would be foolish not to gift you a pair. This shoe is certainly a must for the Intrinsically Satisfied.

    Correction: Bakers soles (used by G&G) are tanned for 12 months not 9 months. JR soles are the ones tanned for 9 months... Thanks for the video

      Thanks for the correction. I'd love to visit Bakers one day! I hear it's like stepping back in time.

    I'm still learning and still a novice. I honestly thought that if you couldn't see the stitch on the bottom of the shoe then it wasn't a real goodyear welt. Still learning!

      There are many shoes with visible stitching on the outsole that aren't good year welted, some of which are even just glued

    the finishing on the sole and the fiddleback waist are immaculate but isn’t the hidden channel stitching something you can get on 200 dollar shoes these days? not much of a bragging point anymore.

    • @silentsir2446
      @silentsir2446 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, you can get the fiddleback waist on a $3-400 shoe now.

      kongmw Yeah. Take a look at TLB Artista and Cobbler Union. However their Fiddleback/beveled waist isn’t as pronounced.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes - the gap has certainly been narrowed with the fiddle back and narrow waists. For sure. Quite impressive you can find that for less than $400.

    I might have missed it, but is a balmoral actually better than an oxford? In terms of formality and versatility.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No... they are really two of the same. Although I do agree that a balmoral "looks" more formal, I think this is only because it is the slightly less common model.

    As always nice presentation. I am about to purchase a Gaziano & Girling Balfour either in vintage rioja or dark margaux similar to color made for Price Charles. Which is a better color choices. Or should I stick with the black.

    • @kirbyallison

      I'm don't really wear belts. All of my trousers are tabbed. However, I think it is a little ridiculous having a perfectly matching belt for every pair of shoes. But if you can afford it, that is certainly the way to go.

      @@reecewilkinson4334 I agree with you, I was being a little crass/harsh.
      They are extremely well made and reasonably priced, not to my taste but clearly to other people's as is testament to their 30yr trading.

    Not a fan of square toes on shoes. Otherwise these look lovely shoes, and given they’re only made to order you could ask for a round toe. Though buying shoes made to order is exceedingly expensive. I have one pair of black cap toe oxfords. These are the shoes I got because you could wear them with any suit. My wardrobe for the most part is much more casual and I wear sneakers.

    • @martuni1539
      @martuni1539 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      . . . It's a very classic, nearly global standard, and long standing archetype of what a well dressed man is. It has and will continue to stand the test of time as such, perhaps with minor differences along the way. Please don't leave negative comments using buzzwords that have nothing to do with the content of the video, which you clearly lack knowledge about.
