    I’m impressed with how well your got round with a completely stock car! 👏🏻. Annoyingly the TT02’s do have a lot more slop than a TT01 out the box it can be sorted with a lot of shims though. My moneys on either of you two for the win 🏆

    Nice to see the TT02 on the track, first hop ups I did on my Subaru WRX STI Nürburgring was bearings then did the following hop ups - TBLE-04S, Diff locker in the rear gearbox, Speed gearing, Suspension arm balls (low friction), the CVA's, Steering, CVD's, Prop shaft, 13.5t brushless sensored set up and just upgraded the steering servo to a AGFRC 24kg digital servo.

      @PopalongRC handles really good plus I also added blue alloy rims, a cockpit and running Tamiya On-Road Hard Tuned Spring Set (Soft - Front/Medium- Rear).

    Bought a TT02 last weekend, the Ford Mustang GT4 😎 It should arrive tomorrow 😄 Got some hopups as well, ball bearings of course, Tamiya oil shocks, alu drive shaft + the alu cups at both ends and the low friction balls for the front suspension… Also picked up a Tamiya tool set, so I have the proper fitting jis tools for assembly. Hopefully I’ll be able to drive it at a proper track some time.

    Your car look very good on the track and your lines were very consistent. The TT02S is a completely different car. One of the features you can see in your video are the arms on the TT02S are more like the more expensive Tamiya road cars. The basic TT022 has a lot of slop in the front. I noticed when you compared slop in the front of the two cars, his servo saver was rock solid. Your servo arm or servo saver moved a lot. I have heard that some people add grease to the friction shock bodies to help the handling. I think your car will do very well. Good luck.

    2:48 How much movement is there if the servo arm isn't moving? I only upgraded my steering with the two low friction screws and some cellotape around the screws where there was slop and it is a lot better now without spending a ton of money!

    Iv got 4 tt01s 2 tt02 ta01 ta02 and a tl01 I think the tamiya cars are just so versatile you can change what ever you whant like from rally chassis with a few mods or racing or just ripping round out side or 4w drift/power sliding or make it 2wd and make it I to a pretty good drifter well louds you can do 🤘

    • @PopalongRC

      Love how versatile the TT cars are especially when you consider the TT02B as well

  • @techspeedrc
    @techspeedrc ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can see most of the steering slop is from the Tamiya servo saver. I expect you can't change it for the race but you can work on them to remove most of the slop.

    • @PopalongRC
      @PopalongRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I might stick a different servo in it and see if that helps… maybe the servo save took a knock and worn some teeth

    • @techspeedrc
      @techspeedrc ปีที่แล้ว

      Tamiya servo savers are useless for racing, while I've used Kimbrough savers for years if you want precision in a touring car there's nothing better than an Xray one even though it's blooming expensive!

  • @hyperhart100

    • @PopalongRC

      Totally stock mate, I’m not sure that putting a fast brushless system in this car will be any benefit to be honest. Maybe a 21.5

  • @buffalodiehard
    @buffalodiehard ปีที่แล้ว +1

    if you are allowed to change that servo saver out for an aluminum servo horn that will help half of that slop in the front maybe more but rules might not allow for it in your club

  • @offsetrc
    @offsetrc ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just a qwiq one though if your thinking about upgrading shocks don't make my mistake buying different shocks from all different makes the best ones iv seen that work the best for these tamiya chassis is by far the ya racing shock up grades I wast so much money getting different ones and should of just got them from the get go 👍

  • @knappRC
    @knappRC ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you slather the shafts of the "shock" bodies with Tamiya Anti-Wear Grease, it acts like a damping, and gets rid of nearly all of the bouncing. Remove the spacer on the shocks as well to give you some droop.

    • @PopalongRC
      @PopalongRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That will only cost about £100 in AW grease …. Has to be one of the most expensive greases we have ever brought

    Tt-02 S, with TRF416 suspension parts, is noticably better than the normal TT-02, should show up in lap consistency. The SR can almost hang with competition touring cars, so its quite decent.
    As long as you all run the same cars, without any odd modifications, I think the youtuber race should be epic, and could make for a fun tradition even. Stock cars are just as fun to race as the higher end cars, its more a question of do you want to race with just driving skills, or driving+tuning+pitcrew+money. I love the truck class because its simple and cheap.
    Try messing about with the shock angle options(even if they are few) might find a bit more favorable characteristics that way.

    • @PopalongRC
      @PopalongRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      they do run a lot smoother and depending on the track they can hang with the faster chassis

    • @PopalongRC

      Anything is good enough for racing just as long as everyone is racing the same car and electrics👍 the issue with running high end cars is that it’s normally the person with the deepest pockets will take the win in most cases.
