  • Odors from your ostomy pouch can be frustrating at best. Of course, you don’t want to smell your body waste throughout the day. Plus, you certainly don’t want others to notice any odors coming from your ostomy either.
Luckily, you don’t have to worry too much as long as you have a well-fitting, properly-sealed ostomy pouching system. With the right ostomy supplies, you should only notice odors when changing out or draining your pouching system.
However, if you’re noticing some offensive smells more frequently, it’s time to find the potential cause. Then together, we can find a solution!

My son must have told my Grand daughter about my surgery. As soon as she saw me she said I smell something! Nice kid huh? Things only got worse as she got older.

Insurance complications don't allow for enough deodorant/lubricants for as many times as I have to empty - any advice on mak8ng a homemade option?

I use M9 Deodorant. Just a few drops needed and it's pretty good. It's like $20 for a bottle but it lasts a while. It's a good product.

I have a problem with my barrier ring melting over my inverted stoma & almost closing over the whole thing. My stoma is very tiny & inverted. Any suggestions?

Hi there, the Eakin seals are designed to absorb moisture, so when they look like they are melting they are doing their job. With that said, they should not be closing off your stoma. You can try molding and expanding the ring a little larger to avoid it getting into the stoma itself. If you are still having issues, please give our ostomy specialists a call at 877-688-2729.

I had the same problem & went back to have my surgeon check it out (thought it would just be a quick one day regular checkup!)
He immediately hospitalized me & redid my surgery .... it can be very dangerous if it closes up & one can get septic quickly that way.
Best to get in asap & have a surgeons' advice!!
