Outstanding ear for tone Mr. Grissom. I play my SE next to Core models all the time. Most of those players are stunned by the sound the SE puts out. A high quality guitar for under a grand! PRS is awesome. So is your playing Sir.

I have an OG SE Standard in vintage red with the Grover locking tuners. It’s the best 24 fret “SG” I’ve ever had. Can’t wait for my Gold Top to arrive.

One of the greatest regrets in my life was back in 2009. We were low on funds and I had to let a hunk of gear go to cover some bills and sadly my Core DGT was one that went. Gold top with moons, a true beauty, just like Dave's. Also sacrificed was a Faded Blue Jean Modern Eagle with a Brazilian rosewood neck and an '86 white Standard. I still get emotional any time I think about them. If anyone out there watching owns one of these they purchased from Wildwood Guitars in Colorado, I'm more than willing to make a generous offer to reacquire any of them. If not, I understand, but please take care of them for me.
And Keith, don't forget about our Iceman documentary we recently discussed. 😎🤘

Two crazy things just happen to me a day before I watched this ….. I got a PRS McCarty 597 SE that has this same sort of sounds he is displaying but more importantly, I just bought the most game changing guitar pedal thanks to Tom Buckovac… an XTS modded Boss GE-7 that moves just the most important mids around. OMG…. This pedal makes all guitar sit so well in the mix but in the amp….. I think this pedal makes the speaker more tunable and allows a better signal path to hear what a basic speaker hides in most amps. It clears up those in between mids that guitars can miss due to pickup or wood or strings…. It draws out the very best like a soundboard preamp fine tuning….. Dave could dial this XTS in and make every guitar sound exactly like what he hears in his head…. Crazy feeling being able to dial a PRS SE by using this pedal and hear better mids to sound like a 2-3k guitar…

What's the big difference between the DGT and a normal PRS Custom 24? I assume just 22 v 24 frets, but this seems like a bit of a redundant model in the PRS lineup. Same body shape, HH pickups, Tremolo, etc.

As a non-professional musician, what I can tell PRS or any other guitar manufacturer who's making instruments in the price range is, if someone can't use these in a live gig situation, then they should stop building them. Professional musicians who don't have to purchase their new instruments obviously want the highest price instruments. In this case, the SE could be used at any gig anywhere in the world. It seems like the individuals who are most surprised by the quality are those who don't have to pay for them.
