    This was a beautifully made video Michael. I really enjoyed it and it took me back to my years living near Mt Tam. I enjoyed many mornings watching the fog roll in over the trees. Thanks for a great video.

      Hey thanks so much Nigel! I have been really enjoying your channel as well, awesome videos! Mt Tam and the Headlands are just fantastic places that I have taken for granted over the years. I have been having fun exploring more since being stuck in the Bay Area during quarantine. How long did you live in the Bay Area for?

    • @NigelDanson

      Michael Shainblum two years - in Tiburon. I spent a lot of time photographing up there and in muir woods (which didn’t get much fog...) thanks for the kind words. 👍🏼

So as you guys talk about your environment, you seem to enjoy it and care about. Keep on sharing this views with others you cant go reach those spots! Thx for sharing with me.

    Sweet. Poignant for me. I lived in the Bay Area for 35 years and have climbed all over Mount Tam. Lived in Mill Valley on the side of the mountain. Older now, and no hiking. Do all you can now. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

      @andreak4280 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, looks like a nice trail, can you please tell me which one that was that Michael walked up?
      i like to ride/hike on mt tam too, always enjoy exploring new trails (mostly mt bike) but working on hiking more there and looking for some new gems to experience - thnx for any trail head names you think would be fun & good for photo ops!! 🙏🏼

      @@andreak4280 Hi there Andrea. happy to be of help. parts of it look like Railroad Grade, and other parts look like Eldridge Grade. i've done both many times, that's why i can say i've been on the same trail. Railroad Grade is a gentle climb out of Mill Valley, and the easiest way up to the east peak. Eldridge is more severe, steeper and more technical, also going to the east peak, beginning in the Ross/Fairfax area. The part with the stairs looks like the Cataract Trail, which is not bikeable, but the most beautiful hike i have yet encountered anywhere. if you want details on cataract, if you've not been on it before, let me know, and i will send you the particulars. here is one of my photos from Cataract: facebook.com/photo?fbid=3394198550602535&set=a.114024258619997

      frank waters - Hi Frank, thanks for getting back to me! i have ridden my bike up both RR & Eldridge, (wonderful views as you know) i guess some of the footage just did not register in my brain as those trails. 🤪😅 until he was out of the wooded tree areas looking toward SF. The stairs threw me off ! I thought it may have been a side trail taken going up the mountain - off one of those main 2 trails you mention. If he was on Cataract (stair area) i def was thrown as that area would be a different hike going up altogether. I love Cataract trail, i do know it and remember the days when it was almost always empty with the exception of a few hikers seen in the hours i would go to photograph there - no longer a “secret gem” for sure ... and definitely not a biking trail!! Possibly Michael used different hiking footage of his adventures in this vid (??) I greatly appreciate the reply! Was just looking to hopefully find out a new side route up the mountain with cool views and possible photo ops when out hiking. Take care

    • @frankwaters8177
      @frankwaters8177 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andreak4280 there are a couple more routes i know , which are much more difficult. one begins about half a mile into RR, it goes off to the right, and leads to a lot of very steep roller coaster type stuff. the other, i think it's called rock springs and begins about 1/4 of the way around lake lagunitas.
