It just got better all the way down the line, from weakest to best..... Great show to All 💪🏾💯🥁 ( I just wish I could have heard valley bass drums more)
@@cediman69 correct but I see a lot of lines not even giving it a try or want to progress in the skills of what they can do with it like it’s so many options and sounds and so when I see lines take em away for a more swac sound witch is cool I love a good drumset sound here and there but your really losing a lot of creativity when it comes to not having tonals
as a tonal player, I’m starting to dislike them. They lack the funk sound (if a line doesn’t have Tenors) in many songs and sacrifices that drop bass sound because 2 out of 8 basses are Drops. A lot of times I wish MDFS still had their leg tenors cause all of their band arrangements for percussion sounds very empty during tuba breaks, even with the tonals going for broke sounding like Quints back there 😂. About a decade ago, Shaw HS had a line of 3-4 Toned Tenor Drums which was very unique. Each tenor had its own tone and parts and they gave me a real marching drum set because Tonal BASS drums are not a replacement for Tom Tom’s which Tenors are.
You gotta consider the line is to back up the band. Tonals don’t work against an aggressive band. Albany is a prime example look at them now vs let’s say 10 years ago when i marched there. We had tonals but it fit the sound of the band. Albany band is way more aggressive playing than they were when I marched there so the switch fits for the sound the director wants
Albany State should have chose different cadence's or a different order of cadence. The tempo was off the closer it got to end. Almost like it was being forgotten as it was being playing. Parts meshing that shouldn't mesh.
Sooooo ….. everybody wanna be jackson state i see 😂😂quite sad i remember fvsu and asu did not have that style years ago now everybody doing the shaky leg
1. FVSU

Impressive!
FVSU 💙💛
Wish more lines would take more time to learn the usage of tonals instead of just giving up😭
Tonals are not good for every band.
Tonals not hard to play. They just don't match certain styles.

Let’s ASU!!!
The drumline at 1030. I'm sorry but the cadence's are nice and fundamental. Not crowd pleasures. Work on tempo issues.
If i had to rank this battle….
1A. TC
1B. FV
2. ASU
3. VUU
(Just my opinion)
Overall great showing from all sections involved
