A=440 is a 20th century standard. In Rameau's time there was no standard as to how to tune an A, but generally speaking harpsichords were tuned around a half note lower than today. Since harpsichords weren't tuned to equal temperament either, the key was determined by the relationships between the notes, and not the absolute pitch.
The measure at 1:29 has a d as the final 16th in the right hand, in the version shown which is the Saint Saëns edition, but a g is heard. Is that what's written in the autograph edition?

In six years listening to classical music, I'm sure you've discovered by now that people used to tune their instruments at different pitches than we standardly do now, and performers of period music often try and replicate the tuning of the time the piece was written, A=415 having become the usual 'Baroque tuning'. But, you were right to say the first note (if there aren't several simultaneously :p) isn't necessarily the tonic note.

La version de gilels est très bonne.
Ils la jouent souvent beaucoup trop régulièrement. Une pièce censée représenter le vol d'un oiseau jouée au métronome, quelle idée.
