WHEN someone brings up the TEN Commandments , WHAT they really mean is THE SABBATH . the other 9 other commandments are not challenged , they are still valid . The Sabbath points to God as Creator. It is amazing that the commandment that begins with the word REMEMBER is the one that is forgotten neglected and despised .

For this commandment which I command you this day, it is not hidden from you, neither is it far off. Deuteronomy 30:11..If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 ... Its conforming to Christ...1 John 2:3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands...1 John 5:3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,...Isaiah 42:2 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honorable .

“Knowing that a man is NOT JUSTIFIED BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and NOT BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

yes i agree 100% however Paul explained further in Romans 6:14-16 for sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under the law but under grace what then shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace god forbid know ye not to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey his servants ye are to whom ye obey whether of sin to death or of obedience to righteousness and sin is defined in 1 john 3:4 for whosoever commits sin transgresses(breaks ) the law for sin is the transgression of the law and righteousness is defined in Deuteronomy 6:25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us. I totally believe that through the grace of Jesus Christ our Lord can save us because as it is written in isaiah 53:5 but he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised for our inequity the chastisement of our peace was upon him and by his stripes we are healed and Jesus fulfilled that promised by dying for us as he said in matt 20:28 Even as the son of man came not to be ministered to but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many and he also said in matt 5:16-19 let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven think not that i am come to destroy the law or the prophets i am come to destroy but to fulfil (but listen to these next verses) for verily i say to you till heaven and earth pass one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled ( that includes the book of revelation, matthew 24,luke 21 and mark 13) whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and teach men to do so so he shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven but whosoever shall do and teach them the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven

The greak word 'entole', is a word that means sayings or teachings, and when John uses the word 'commandments', in all five books, (the epiesltes, the gospel and revelation) the underline word is 'entale' when he is refering to the teachings of Jesus, not the 10 commandments. When John refers to the Law, he uses the word 'nomos' or 'torah' if he's refering the whole thing or not.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
    - John 14:15 (KJV) that and all the others, that John mentions, are refering the the teachings and sayings of Jesus Christ, because he had many, all of them cant even be written down.

@biblicalAnswers101 I disagree with this statement that Jesus was not talking about the law. Example: the story of the woman with the issue of blood. She grabbed on to his “garment”. We see that Jesus wore tzit tzits (Kanaph in Greek) which the garment is referring to. That was a commandment all the way back in numbers 15. Why would he be wearing them if he didn’t keep the commandments of old?

I did not say that. Jesus kept the old testament commandments, but he made distinction between them. Thats why Jesus said “If ye keep my commandments(my teachings) ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments(the torah Moses' teachings), and abide in his love.”- John 15:10 (KJV)
when you say, that Jesus's commandments, his commandments (stated in the new testament) means the same as the commandments as stated in the Torah, then you miss the whole point of what Jesus came to do. Moses was a law giver, (a type and shadow of JESUS) Christ is the fullness of that shadow made perfect. In other words, JESUS is the real LAW GIVER. Moses went up on a mount and came down with the commandments, representing what Jesus was to come and do. So then when Jesus came, he also went up on a mountian and came down with the commandment in Matthew 5.
"Ye have heard it have been said of old"... such and such... "but I say on to you"... such and such. ('but I say'... those are his sayings and teachings, his commandment, Jesus's commandments, not the 10 Torah commandments).
This is why John could say...“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”- 1 John 5:3 (KJV).
John was Jesus' diciple diciple, not Moses' disciple. So of course John is referring to Jesus' commandments. How is it, that after all these years, we could look back at the one law that was given to the jews, and make a distinction and find 2 laws in it. But after all these years since Jesus' death we cant look back and see the difference between his laws and the 10 commandments?

Where was the answer to the question on the law? The question was not whether we are saved or justified by the law; the question was what laws are we to keep. W/out hesitation any Christian would say "Thou shalt not murder" should be kept today -and no one would tell him "if you offend in one point you're guilty of all" as if they shouldn't worry about murdering. So what about the rest? There's nothing wrong w/wanting to know how to please God...it doesn't mean one is trying to merit anything.:(

Peter warned people of the danger of misunderstanding Paul and being led into lawlessness. 2 Peter 3:15-17.
Paul said that the law is holy, just and good and that it's the doers of the law will be justified. People misunderstand Paul when he is explaining that it's not by keeping the law that you become sinless, to get forgiveness you need God's grace, it's not something you can do on your own by keeping the law.

The Law says to not cheat in business, the Law says to not steal, to not lie, to pray, to believe in Yahuwah, to believe in the Messiah, to be filled with the Spirit of God. The Law says to water baptize (John the Baptist was following the Law), to break idols, to repent, to fast, to praise. The Law says to help the orphans, the widows, the sojourners, and the Levites. The Law says to love God with your whole being, to love your neighbors, and to love the enemies of you. The list goes on...

James Ch. 2 is often cited by traditional, Christianity as proof text that we can't keep the Torah and should not try to. After all, none of us is without sin, so, by implication, toss out the standard for sin and carry on. That is what man says. But what does God say? The context of James Chapter Two is discussing our attitude to the brethren. It isn't about whether we should keep the Law of God or not. It does not set aside the standard for judgment. In fact it upholds the Standard of Torah.

@Chrilsama You have to understand the resurrection stories from a Hebraic standpoint or roots to get the proper meaning. In Hebrew scriptures it teaches to have the Passover (High Sabbath whatever day of the week it may fall on), then it teaches to count seven Sabbaths (49 days) following the Passover. Then on the day after the seventh Sabbath (the seventh sunday) would be the day of Pentecost. So when you read the Greek scriptures they are referring to this very ceremonial process. Thus you pl

@Chrilsama So Exodus 16:29 says to abide where you are, to not travel to go home to eat, because traveling would get their focus off of God and on temporal things. So they would fast twice of the Sabbaths, on the eve (they would have eaten before the eve of the Sabbath generally), then have one breakfast in the morning, then off to "church or synagogue" where they would stay until the evening time in revival. Leviticus 23 teaches about the revival gatherings (holy convocations),

People constantly wrap God's 10 Commandment Law...with the law of Moses (such as washing your hands before you eat, or circumcisions ) They Are NOT The Same Thing. Not washing your hands will not keep you out of Heaven - being a murderer will. You accept Jesus, confess/repent you sins, accept The Holy Spirt, then God's Law "10 Commandments" will be written in your heart, you then can be reborn a new creature, a Child of God, worthy of His Kingdom!

@Chrilsama You are right about Jesus rising on Sunday morning because of Luke 23:56 and Luke 24:1. He would have had to die on a thursday to make for the sign of Jonah of being in the grave for three days and three nights. It makes perfect sense to me now, thank you for helping to clear up my understanding about it. I still believe the mian Sabbaton is referring to the count of the Sabbaths, as in toward one of the Sabbaths. But I know beyond doubt that he rose on Sunday morning now.

@karozans i dont actually mean in the last 30 seconds of your life, but if you've checked into a nursing home or been diagnosed with cancer or some other chronic illness you know that your life may be nearing the end. So, if you've lived your life sinfully planning to just repent in the end, and then once you wind up in a nursing home you realize that that was a terrible plan, you feel sorry and you genuinely repent you still get into heaven do you not.

are seated with Christ in "the heavenly places" (Eph 2:6); have an immortal celestial body, a "tabernacle" authored by God and suited to dwell in heaven forever (2 Cor 5:1). This a right conferred upon us in Christ (Jn 1:12).
This was made an objective reality for all by Christ's finished work at Calvary and is made a subjective reality in us by grace recievd through faith. Nothing can take that new identity away from us (cf. Rom 8:39; Jn 10:29).

Then they would wake up in the morning and have a little breakfast, then off to the corporate gathering place wherever it may be. The scripture says to not travel far on the Sabbath. So,

    We who believe already have a new identity hid with Christ in God (Col 3:3). By believing in Christ we: died to the old man (Rom 7;1-4) and by the Law to the Law so that we could serve God (Gal 2:19; Rom 7:4-6); have been resurrected from the dead (Jn 11:25); have eternal life (1 Jn 5:11); are declared righteous (Rom 5:1, 8); are reconciled to God (Rom 5:1,10); are forever perfected in Christ (Heb 10:14);

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin
Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets

““If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭14:15‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬
“So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.”
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:17‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬
“Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.”
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭14:12‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬
“Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Also Paul isn’t saying we shouldn’t keep the Law but merely stating it is no longer used for salvation and shouldn’t be. For works without faith which in Hebrew means fidelity, are dead and likewise. So the Law is very much still alive and I’m not talking about the ritual law but rather the 617 laws of the Torah God commanded everyone to keep.

Who decides eschatology is a secondary issue? Jesus said, "I have told you everything ahead of time" in regard to eschatology. It's like saying Jesus' words are a "secondary issue". His words will be an extreme *salvation issue* for those living in the very last days. According to Jesus *even the very elect* will be deceived if possible....I think what He said about His coming and when the elect will be gathered is a primary issue since it involves believing Jesus over man. I believe that we are to try our very best to keep the commandments though we are not under the law. When we ask Jesus to save us, the Holy Spirit is hard at work conforming us to the likeness of Christ. We will still sin because our flesh is not redeemed, only our spirit. Living in the age of grace means our sins are yet forgivable, though not desired. Further, I also believe that G-d gave Moses the Ten Commandments to prove to us that we need a Savior. Flesh does not permit, is why we battle.

There was no mention of the " Law of the Spirit " For the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of " Sin and Death. " ( Rom 8 ) When we become a Christian, at that moment we are a new Creation and " Old " things pass away.( 2 Cor 5 )The old law passes away. It was a tudor to lead us to Christ. Once we are " IN " Christ there is no more need for a tudor. ( Gal 3 ) Therefore the law is NOT made for a righteous man, but for the sinner. ( 1Tim 1) We are justified by " FAITH " ( Rom 5 ) We are righteous now, it is a free gift, by His grace. ( Eph 2 ) So as we are lead by the Spirit, we are the Son's of God. ( Rom 8 ) Paul said: Cast out that " Bond Woman and her son " to say: Get rid of the " Law " in your life. The 10 commandments and replace them with the " Law of the Spirit " Now if we do that, we " Rest " in what He has done, and His finished work on the cross and we " Rest ". ( Heb 4 ) So.... you can add this to your next question about " Are we to live by the " LAW " Yes....but not the " Law of the Letter " For the letter killeth, but the Spirit gives life. ( 2 Cor 3 ) Only by the Law of the Spirit in us. If your saved. Are you ?

I totally agree. Though I think a lot of people believe they love God but it's a different person than God which is revealed in Scripture. The Satanic bible says "do as thou wilts, that is the whole of the law" and people who don't want God's law are loving the "god" that is the author of the Satanic bible.
Many are hopefully sincere and loving but just deceived and will find the light; and the light is of course the Torah and Jesus.

Wow, does Romans 6 come to mind or what!? They TOTALLY side-stepped the question. It sounded alot like "Continue in sin that grace may abound." Paul said, God forbid! 1Jn DOES say that sin is the transgression of the law. Its not like thats true prior to salvation then all of a sudden "sin" takes on a new subjective definition after salvation. Jesus said if you love me keep my COMMANDMENTS. They really gave the impression that sin doesnt exist after salvation, just some subjective "messing up."

Why do we always forget the blessings for following God's instructions....??? Any person who misunderstands and believes the law of God given to Moses on the Mountain was the problem makes a category error as the design of it was to make a person aware of sin compared to righteous action. It has always been the hard heart of man to choose from the tree of good and evil that was the problem......rebellion either through lack of trust or desire to choose from the false tree for our own fleshly and temporary benefits.
The Law of God only brings judgment either for good or evil as it is inanimate and has no power to make us do what is right or wrong ...that is our choice alone. We can either choose life or death and if we have faith in God as good and our Saviour we choose life because we love Him as our Creator and merciful provider of atonement for our sin.
It is our hearts that God changes when we accept God's way of salvation. Jer 31:31 tells us God writes His Law on our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit to do them in the New Covenant. We are saved just like Abraham who believed God and this trust/belief was accounted as righteousness just as we are accounted righteous when we believe Christ is who he says He is as God's Saviour.
Then just like Abraham or the Exodus generation according to the NT, those who believe in God are tested by God to see if their faith is true in the action of doing what God asked.
Abraham continued to trust God in his actions (circumcision and traveling to Canaan) but had an even greater test regarding the son of promise Isaac. Abraham offered up Isaac as God commanded him to do and was blessed by God who said NOW I know you believe even though God had already accounted to Abraham righteousness.
Faith and Good Works are complimentary. One without the other is useless. Please read James. Our works prove to God that we actually do believe Him and have turned from sin which 1John 3:4 says is breaking the commandments of God. Have a good sit down and think carefully about this & you may draw a different conclusion & find out you have been following the man of lawlessness that is a false christ and a different gospel to what the Jewish Apostles taught and lived like.
History shows the church gave up the Judaism dogma tradition that made a person twice as worthy as hell according to Jesus but most modern churches don't even understand what is being spoken about in the NT because they don't know the difference between God's Law and the Oral Torah traditions of Judaism.
Works of the Law relates to the wrong interpretation and the proselytism dogma which is first Century Judaism's errors of understanding of how to come into covenant with God and maintain your relationship with God.
Many of the traditions openly defied the plain text of Moses Instructions and Jesus railed against such hypocrisy whilst upholding His Father's teaching.
I am a 63 too. Be blessed and find your true identity. FJ

@RageicaNiels The coffee symbolizes life and sin is lack. When the $1,000 was payed, the payer took on the lack of the one lacking coffee. Once it has been payed, they have abundance rather being thrown out with those who cant afford coffee. So for mankind, we are all broke and only Jesus has money and anyone who tries to pay for their own coffee cannot receive the donation(its impossible). We who take the donation must stay where the tab was payed or we'll have no coffee either.

@Chrilsama Luke 18:12 NesteuO dis tou Sabbatou "I am fasting twice of-the Sabbath": according to Exodus 16:23 it's a sin to cook on the Sabbaths. In scriptures it started with the manna being dropped before the eve of the Sabbath or "the day of preparation", and not being dropped on the Sabbath itself. So they were commanded to save some of the manna for the morning to eat. So it was adopted to fast twice on the Sabbaths to pray, praise, worship, and focus on God, they would eat breakfast, then.

@creationcenterTV no. We are commanded to pray, yes. But does our "Carrying our cross daily" end there? What did Jesus do? Just pray for those opposing, for the sick, for dead? No, he spoke to the opposing, he went to reach out and heal the sick and the dead. We are also commanded to go out and evangelize. Right?

@Chrilsama Did Jesus rose on the Sabbath or the day after? Let me point out the fact of Mathew 28:1 first: If Sabbaton means "Week" then it should be translated as "Evening yet of weeks (pl.), to the lighting of the into one of weeks, came Mary the Magdelene and the other Mary to behold the tomb." This makes no sense to say "evening of weeks", there are only evening of single days not weeks. Both Sabbaths are plural in this verse.

@Chrilsama The fourth commandment is quoted in the NT Hebrews 4:4.9. How can the sabbath be a shadow of the coming king, when the sabbath was here since creation. A shadow points forward. The sabbath points back to creation week. According to the book of Acts, the gentiels did know the 4th commandment Acts 13:42, and the gentiles besaough Paul and barnaabas that these words be preached the next sabbath

1 John 2:3-6 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, .... walk just as He walked.
It is not about whether or not we can keep the law perfectly, but we try because we love Him and allow grace to work if we mess up.And when we mess up, we Repent, ask for forgiveness and do not do it again. Just because we're not perfect doesnt mean we cant try. We are to walk as He walked. Just sayin...

@BigD71889 Sorry for the confusion. The Sabbath is a symbol of the Rest in Christ. Paul says "a shadow of things to come". Heb 4:4 quotes Gen 2:2 which is not a commandment, but simply a statement! And 4:9 quotes nothing!
Acts 2:46 says they worshipped every day in the temple and you SDAs say it wrong to worship on days which are not sabbath! the fact that aul teaches also on Sabbaths proves not that we have to keep the OT sabbath - If we had to he would have said it in Atcs 15!

@sterlingwalters As I said Paul regards the Dekalog not above the Torah (Rom7:7) But Jesus regards 2 commandments (Deu:5; Lev 19:18 not part of the Dekalog!) above ALL Mt22:37ff.
The 4th com. is never quoted in the NT, Paul said the Sabbath is only a shadow of the coming King (col 2:16f) and if it would have that importance like you and SDAs want us to believe, Why on earth no apostle ever said it to the Gentiles who didn´t know the Torah and therefore didn´t know the 4th commandment?

There is no way now to argue mian ton sabbaton is "one of sabbaths" which had to be EV tov sabbaton !
It only can be "(day) one of a 7day period" which is the first day of the week the day our Lord rose from the dead!

Why did the English scribes, as well as others twist the scripture to say first day of the week when it says mian Sabbaton in the Greek? We are not under the Law (incl. the Dekalog) "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law" (Gal3:13)
"Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, TILL THE SEED SHOULD COME" (19).
That does not mean we shouldn´t obey moral teachings of the Torah but no OT ceremony is needed for salvation

Plural Sabbaths because seven Sabbaths count called in Hebrew the omer. So Jesus could have been crucified on a tuesday, monday, or any day of the week, Passover doesn't coincide with the pagan Gregorian Calendar. It does coincide with the 14 of Nissan in the Hebraic Biblical Calendar.

Those who cannot discern inner truth are like they who crucified Messiah accusing Him a sinner.

  • @jamlimited3

@houseoffire72 Its too easy to run RIGHT to escape the false teachings on the LEFT but we must avoid either direction of the WIDE road and rather walk the ever corrective, repentant road that is narrow and leads to life which few even find(according to Yeshua). You should study the rich Hebrew insights of Bill Cloud as he teaches on the story of Joseph. In picturing Messiah, YHVH veiled his name and appearance until they who sought his death bowed before him like everyone else.

@BigD71889 The reason God commands us to keep the seventh day holy, is because back during creation in genesis 2:2 God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it. meaning he made the day holy. Your argument isnt so much against the law of GOd, it is only with the seventh day sabbath.

@Chrilsama You are absolutely wrong in your Greek, if you look up every time the word mian is mentioned in the Greek scriptures you will see the true meaning of this word, it doesn't mean first after, it just means one. Proto means first, which is not mian. Anytime you have On as in SabbatOn it means of it's called the genitive of subject matter which is a plural noun. So "mian SabbatOn" is literally "one of-Sabbaths". If the apostles truly wanted to make distinction they'd say protes hemeras...

If peter said that we are to walk as He walked, Jesus Christ, if Jesus custom was to keep the sabbath Luke 4:16 how can we say we are resting in Christ when we walk contrary to His walk? We are only lying to ourselves. The seventh day is the sabbath. Sunday throughout history was a day decdicated to sun worship by pagans. Through he Roman Church satan disguised this fact under religious names. Its not about days, its about who do you obey? Man or God?

  • @Chrilsama

@yahokobbenyah Why would Jesus be risen on sabbath the day of rest? The Idea that he rose on Sabbath is new. I don´t know of any church father or ealry Christian who did not believed he rose on the 1st Day!
In fact Banabas explains in ch.15 why they started to celebrate the Lords Day: because Jesus conquered death on Sunday!
This has nothing to do with the sun or roman catholicims etc.
1st century Christians worshiped on Sunday which they colled 8th or 1st or Lords Day!

He is talking about overcoming sin in the body(flesh). Romans 7 ends with.."i thank G-d through Y'shua that with my mind i serve the LAW(TORAH) of G-d,and with my body the law of sin. He is not talking about making a choice between covenants. Christians have snatched that verse "not under law" out of its context and made a whole new message out of it, changed the gospel. You understand that rabbi Shual was a Jew who kept the Torah(law) himself right....lol(acts21:15-25)

  • @brianhyde2920

I believe that law has its source in the desire to promote order (physical) and it does in a sense, ensure loving behaviour at a certain level is requited but its by no means the answer. Is "law" per se what we should be talking about or is it the intents and purposes of the heart, the motives, the real issue?
Take biblical law. Biblical law comes to man in the form of a dead letter. It is something that is written on stone (ten commandments) to a cultic people or on paper (book of the covenant) by order of God. It demands certain conditions be met in the behaviour of the people who come under God's authority. It is almost entirely prohibitive; proscribing behaviour that is criminal. Some talk of keeping the law. But how does one "keep" a prohibitive law? Is it about "keeping" or is it about not falling foul of it? LOL
Seems to me that the only way to have harmonic orientation with the will of God, is not with the law and not necessarily with the thing that law condemns the absence of -- right doing -- but RIGHTEOUSNESS which is a state of being. If your heart is transformed and one with the will of the law-maker, then he does not need to make law for you to come "under". There will be no law in Heaven. And love cannot be commanded.

@sharlyates40 The law of the Ten commandments, and the law of Moses found in a book are two seperate laws. The book of the law with ordinances and sacrifices was blotted out at the cross. Jesus Himself said think not that I am come to abolish the law. Gods ten commandments are eternal. We are saved by grace apart from the law, but our obedience to the law, is out of love for Jesus and what He did. Jesus said if ye love me obey my commandments.
