Repairing আর Restoration দুটো সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা। হাজার অভিঞ্জতা থাকলেও spare parts না পাওয়া গেলে ঘড়ি মৃত অবস্থায় পড়ে থাকবে । এখন repairing যদিবা করা গেল, Restoration অসম্ভব । কারণ ঐ সংক্রান্ত যন্ত্রপাতি বা infrastructure ভারতে নেই, কোনও মিস্ত্রীও নেই। দোকানের ঘড়ি গুলি লক্ষ্য করলে দেখবেন ঘড়ি গুলি কোনও রকমে চালাতে পারলেও, বহিরাঙ্গ অসুন্দর। 400 days যে ঘড়ি দুটি দেখালেন সে দুটির বাহিরের মীনা কাজ খারাপ হয়ে গেছে, full glass cover missing. এঁদের দ্বারা ঘড়িকে original condition এ নিয়ে যাওয়া সম্ভব নয়। আমি দেখেছি বিদেশে এই রকম antique damaged ঘড়িকে original condition এ নিয়ে যেতে।

A great nostalgic experience I’m a great admirer and collector of antique watches and clocks but it’s really sad to see that these types of shop are diminishing and dying
In 2022, I had visited his shop for simple repair of my hmt rajat (an automatic watch). It was on my way to college street campus of university of calcutta. I was over charged for a simple repair. I did not argue. I gave the amount that he had asked for although I knew that I was overpaying. And he does sell old clocks which I can recall but those were also overpriced as per my knowledge. Old clocks are truly pieces of art. Nonetheless, maintaining such art also requires parts and master repairmen which are scarce in the present times.
এটা খুব দুঃখজনক, এরকম কত প্রতিষ্ঠান কলকাতার বুক থেকে হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে। ভোলানাথ বাবু অত্যন্ত ভদ্র মার্জিত মানুষ। ঈশ্বর ওনাকে দীর্ঘ সুস্থ জীবন দান করুন। ওনার একমাত্র পুত্রকে আমার অনুরোধ এ প্রতিষ্ঠান যাতে বন্ধ না হয় সে চেষ্টা যদি করা যায়!
Sadly, there is not 1 clock that is of immense collectors' value. May be the Anniversary Clocks and the regulator but they're all in a pathetic condition. The shop is on it's last leg, and that's sad! However there are major clock collectors in Calcutta and there are people in the city who can RESTORE clocks, apart from mere repair jobs. They are a dying community too, as clock collection is an expensive hobby, and they too are few in number.
