Without the luxury of an extra room, I had to get creative. I was able to solve two problems at once! My small walk-in closet was crammed with clothes, and I had a tendency to wear almost everything before I would do laundry, because I hate doing laundry. But that made for a mess, with clothes waiting to be washed, and of course, putting away the clean clothes was a massive headache. I did some serious editing and got rid of about 2/3 of the clothing, much of which I had kept for far too long. Then, I selected 20 pieces to hang up in the small nook of the closet (it's little "L" shape), and the rest went into a bin on the top shelf. That left just enough room to mount a 4 x 2 piece of plywood onto blocks screwed to the wall, making a desk. I can close the door while in my chair, if I want. It's teeny, but it works, and I ended up with an office AND a more manageable wardrobe that I can switch up when I get bored with what is currently hanging. Win-win!
Lovely Office Space....Great tips my favorite part was the sticker cart....But yes when you have an area prepared with your filming set up it is so easy to just sit down and work on videos. Very nice space. Great Video.
Karin Miranda...Alaina,wow I love your set up...this was a very good video of how to organize your space...what i took from this is about the lighting and keeping your set up so you don't have to worry about the next time you make your video everything is in the right place...(I like that one that's cool)....so as you can see I'm taking notes 📃📖✏📒...So thanks again for working with Chrissy...🙋♀️❤❤❤ these Collab's has been very informative for people like me who will start her own channel real soon.👋👋👋
I’m already subscribed to you I love your videos I’m excited to see your workspace I’m absolutely in love with your storage the way that you have the things organized my favorite thing is your golden pineapple so happy that the mom life did those awesome collaboration I’m really sad that it’s coming to an end soon I’m not ready🤍🙏🏼🥺🙌🏼
This is so awesome. I'm feeling so encumbered at the moment, end of the year and all of that, and this video brought peace and inspiration. As usual. Thanks so much.
Such great info! I am looking forward to having my designated work space in my new home next year. Right now, I do exactly what you were saying about going back and forth and not being productive. I love your consistency tips.
Amen....This is so cool and I am liking this, I prayed and God answered me using these videos, I pray to grow from my Pass traumas and that I can live again especially for my kids who mean everything to me. I am gonna give everything to this for them and God
YAAAY VLOGMAS! BUT wait when you said you have circle stickers on your floor to mark your spot where the chair for filming! I nearly fell out my chair!! You are walking your talk for real, for real! Sis you are truly an organized woman. I love it 😀
Enjoyed your discussion on setup. However, I do Homemaking which means cooking, cleaning, laundry…all over the house. I can’t leave my equipment up. However, I will think mote about how I can be more consistent and productive.
Wow this was such an amazing video!! I am so happy to see this as part of the colab. Your workspace is gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing and I look forward to watching your Vlogmas so that I can get additional inspiration.
New here!! Thank you for sharing!! My favorite tip was that you need a consistent place to do your videos, I’m wanting to start but was just thinking of switching up where I did it each time because of the kids
The keeping your equipment setup is a great tip I wouldn’t be able to do that but I can probably setup the equipment in advanced and then use it when I’m filming
I want to start a TH-cam channel but my small apartment and one year old son that tears everything down is extremely hard to say the least. Lol. Will continue to try.
Keeping the setup simple will help you to be organized and actually get things done. These are practical tips. Thanks Alaina! P.S. love the teacher vibes your outfit is giving 😄
Are you saving paper as a separate topic? Some of my most useful tools are… 1. Trashcan with a grocery bag liner for convenience 2. Depending on what workspace I’m at, either a folder for things to shred or a shredder 3. A folder or a bin for items to repurpose/reuse before tossing 4. A folder or bin for recycling 5. Action folders for the different kinds of mail that I need to process, receipts that need to be photographed or otherwise organized, invitations/upcoming events, current legal stuff, personal letters and cards to answer, estimates for work I want to have done, current projects, bills to reconcile/pay. Active coupons. Problematic returns, anything I’m waiting to have processed like a return or a big purchase or proof that an action was taken within a certain timeframe Anything that I don’t want to have fall off of the radar, have quick access to, But it certainly doesn’t need to be filed more permanently or pile up on a surface. 6. Folders to indicate where certain things need to be filed (I like the freedom filer system that sort of self purges itself): permanent, remove/replace, tax prep items, financial, archive, special interest. 7. A place to stack magazines and catalogs until I have time to do look at them for events, ideas. Some of these I keep in a rotating file if I order from them often, in a remove/replace section.
@@angeladrake4769 Amen! It piles up, but we need to be wise about what to keep, what to toss, and be able to access it quickly. Was just talking to a friend who is so glad she didn't just go paperless - it may have saved her family nearly $195K to prove that they exercised due diligence and the suit against them (unexpected until it happened) resulted in a tiny (by comparison) penalty. I know someone else whose trip was ruined because inability to access some information quickly.
Where did you get the gold sequin boxes on the bottom of your bookshelf? I didn't see them in your Amazon favorites and I know someone who is looking for something similar.
You have like no papers. How do you keep everything so clear? I ALWAYS have papers everywhere. I can’t keep my desk clear. And I’m not sure what to keep and what to toss because I’m not sure if I’ll need it.
I love the Freedom Filer System, it helped me think through WHY I might need to keep things, how long, and how to file them so they get purged instead of building up. I’ve talked to Seth, the creator, more than once on the phone! It’s flexible enough of a system to be simple or very complex, whatever you need it to be. I use the hanging file method, but he also came out with a binder method…really great for customizing even more. You can with buy the labels or create your own labels/system if you intuitively grasp the idea. I did a pastel DIY system as a gift.

I love your videos. Have you ever considered using a lapel microphone so your voice doesn’t echo and sound hollow?
