Mildred Pierce, wife of Emmitt Pierce who was the brother of Willie Pierce who was my grandpa, the father of my mother Doris Pierce Davis. Thanks to Robert and Dan for your adventures that reference my family. I used to see those folks at the yearly Pierce reunions at the Crowell Communty out from Reynolds Ga. A number of the Pierce relatives are buried in the Crowell Cemetery including Willie and Florine Cosey Pierce( my grandparents).
My uncle Tommy was going night fishing with a friend when his old square body truck topped the bluff. His headlights landed on a fireside gathering that he didn't want to be a part of! Glad y'all didn't find any new friends out in those woods!
I laughed so hard when Mr. Dan said he died walking up that hill and was dreaming they were walking back to the car. 😅. Glad that wasn’t the case. Love this video. Good on finally finding the cemetery Cecil. Can’t wait to see part II. Enjoying this channel and your other channel Robert. Appreciate you sharing all these fun adventures and the Byrd farm with us.
I came across your channel and my husband was born and raised in this area. His family lives in Box Springs. We currently live in Upatoi. He is amazed at what is around here. I ask him and he looks at me like I never knew that. Love hearing history. Thank you
I heard that creek before you said anything...I told you I was raised walking and working a creek bottom. Beautiful sound and sight. Y'all had long hike. Love Dan's stories.😁💕
12:15 "What kind of tree is this?" Dan was right. That's an American Beech. That's the kind of tree that people have been carving their initials in the bark of since before my time. As the tree grows, the carved letters expand. The frogs heard in this video are chorus frogs of some sort. We have New Jersey Chorus frogs, which sound similar. When Dan was telling his story around the 23 minute mark, I thought the punchline was going to be that it was a funeral procession. Those coyotes are cool! I recognized that sound, because we have them too, though I haven't heard them since late summer. I can't wait to see that cemetery. Glad Cecil found it the next day.
Sure enjoy your walk around guys sooo much history for those are doing family histories-Saving for our next generations. much Respect for both of you guys 🧐✊💯-Loving those trees too ❤️👏-
My neighbor Tom was Creek! The creeks still exist! There is a reservation Southern Georgia! Seminoles are creeks! The Mescogee creeks in Oklahoma! They are known as the peoples that lived by creeks and swamps! CC
These videos are fact finding and just plain fun to watch. When I heard the frogs my first thought was snakes will be out and about looking for food. Near water I would expect to find snakes hunting for food. Possibly Insidious poisonous vipers cottonmouth, rattlesnakes and copperhead. I found those serpents almost exclusively around fresh water creeks and springs day or night.
Wow! Thank You for sharing! I connect by way of DNA to Hollis' , from Georgia. My father (89) resides in Upitoi, as I reside along the Monterey Peninsula in California! This makes this extra Special! Thank You for sharing, and Dan, thank You for the info! Keep up the Great work! Also Thank Cecil, for getting permission and sharing!!!!! Kudos!! Anxious to see part 2!
Well that was a amazing adventure down to the creek that tree 🌳 was a silver berch ?and you can hear the toads crooking it's looking creepy in the darkness well done Robert and dan and Cecil 😊Andrew south wales uk 👌 👍 👏 😀 🇬🇧
Robert, you need to take Mr Dan and Mr Cecil out to the incredible Hutchinson cemetery you found about 3 years ago It would be very interesting to hear what they know about the history
Oh man! I'd be really creeped out going out there that late at night. But, I can';t wait to see part 2. Did you ever hear of any ghost stories threw there?
Thank you for perservering to find the creek. So lovely! I appreciate you taking us with you on these adventures through history. Reminds me of how my mother and grandmother used to take us children to old, local cemeteries to read the tombstones.
I really enjoyed this adventure. Very pretty country, but kind of sad too that it's so empty. I love listening to you guys as you walk around. I hope you have a part 2 since Cecil found the cemetery. Thank you, Robert, Dan, and Cecil.
That was a very cool video, Robert, Dan, and Cecil! I felt like I was walking right there with y'all! That story that Dan told about the group of folks in the black robes was rather disturbing. Especially since all those pricey vehicles were parked around. I'm thinking that was a group of folks that I am glad to had no part of! But, at least they were black robes, not white ones!! I was expecting that when he started with the story! Walking back in there in the dark would have been one creepy feeling, especially when the yotes started yapping. I wonder just how far away the Pigman was? Probably not far behind you...😂. Now, I look forward to your return back in there to see the cemetery. I grew up in the Ozark hills of northwest Arkansas and know from experience what just might be watching from behind a big tree or rock outcropping. It was great fun back in my younger days!
I've been living in the woods of the Ozarks in NW Arkansas for 57 years and yes there are "things" here. I've lived among panthers and bobcats and bears and some paranormal stuff too. I'm living at the edge of town now, but there is a pasture across the street and one behind me and next to the one behind me is a large wooded hill. I've had jaguar, lynx, and bobcats in my backyard and the other night there was a bobcat in the front yard. I've never been threatened by any of these animals. I leave them alone and they leave me alone.
Hello Robert Mr Dan and Cecil great video enjoyed it a lot I love Mr Dan's stories I can listen to him all day can't wait for part 2 take care love from upstate New York❤😊
Loved the walk, and the creek was stunning, scenery was nice as well, will be awesome when you catch up with Cecil and find the cemetery. Witht he light going down, it is better to all stay together. Shame that after all that walking, in the dark you never found it, but SO glad you all made it back to the truck and outta there. Glad Cecil finally found the cemetery, and maybe someday soon you can all go back there, earlier during the day and see it all, or whats left of it. Great video Robert. Thanks to Dan and Cecil as well.
Keep up the great work keep the videos coming all your videos all have lessons to them and stories also ok I,m your guy,s biggest fan I,m from Medford Oregon you guys rock ok
Awesome creek y'all found. If anything, that was the highlight if y'all had not found the cemetery. Crickets...or frogs; it's how you know it's night time ha ha.
Yeah, they ran through the briars And they ran through the brambles And they ran through the bushes Where a rabbit couldn't go You talked about the brush and bramble and of course my mind went directly to another piece of history and an old song. I did like this piece and listening to Dan's stories. - true, myth, folklore, or a good Dan Story.
How does Cecil and you fellas find these hidden cemeteries? Is it word of mouth among the older generations, libraries holding old county maps? It would be very interesting for a video of you guys sitting around talking about how you find these and what steps or research you might use. Thanks for another great video!!
Robert, I would not totally rule google earth. I am a forester and have worked with aerial photos for work. Yes, there is tree cover, but sometimes you can pick up things like a trace of an old road, a clearing where maybe an old homestead was. If you look really closely sometimes you can pick out trees that are taller than the others, maybe your old dead oaks or cedars. You probably already know all of this because you're a pretty smart guy, but on the outside chance....
@@JohnMarciaShackelford Really? Is there a reason for that? (Never heard this before, but maybe bc I’m born & raised AK/PNW-our cedar & birch are totally different species from those in GA…maybe ours adapt differently or have different growth patterns? Idk).
@bijoulille8816 well, believe it or not I am from the NW too! Washington. Yes, Georgia's cedars looks really different than Alaska red, red cedar, yellow cedar. I think I heard them say cedars were quite often planted in and around cemeteries (in Georgia) because they are suppose to symbolize eternal life. The oaks, I'm not sure why, but they are a lot of the time associated with an old homestead and family cemeteries.
loved this so much, felt like I was right there with you guys.... Reminded me of when I'd got mountain biking with my headlamp at night in the forest that backs onto our place, was always way creepier at night and we haven't got coyotes! I know with the logging every time they harvest they seem to end up changing the roads and cutting through old roads so it gets hard to see what was once there. Can't wait to see part 2 and love you guy's commitment, I'd have done exactly the same!
I so enjoyed this. Brought back great memories of trekking through bottoms as a boy with my dad. Like the old song says: "Precious memories how they linger" Thanks so much 😊. Rick
What a wonderful adventure. I so appreciate Dan's stories, Cecil's determination, and of course you Robert for your adventures into history. Thank you very much. Blessings from Michigan.

But you can have a lot of fun looking!
I’m glad to see Mr Dan again. He has great stories.
Cecil is the man! Looking forward to seeing the cemetery, hopefully minus creepy torch carrying rich dudes in black robes.

You two have to much fun being together
I love it when you walk through the spooky woods, especially at night. Can’t wait to see what you find at the cemetery the next time you go out there.

I don't know for sure, but i'd have to guess there aint no snakes running around in Alabama during January. Those boys are prolly safe.
My favorite TH-cam channel by far !!!!!
@ 4:55 loved hearing the frogs. And again at 32:11
Me too
exactly about hearing the frogs! winters ending! 😊
You all should get a 4 wheeler to get way back in where there are logging roads. Little expensive but maybe could be use on the old byrd farm too!
There must be alot of iron in that area. The soil is so red!
Loved that creek!
clay
Georgia red clay ❤
The dreaded Georgia red clay. Little appeal
Doesn't look like much grows there but weeds.

Very interesting your hollis branch, congratulations
I thought for sure you were gonna run into Pig Boy out there!
I don’t think Pigboy even ventures in these woods!
That was a bit nerve-wracking. We never know what to expect from you, Robert.😁
The trek was worth it. Beautiful creek 😊. Ate my dinner as you went down the 😮hill. After dark watch out for big foot. Or pig boy
Don't worry, Pig Boy's over at the old Byrd Farm in Robert's house. ☺
I Love history man. ❤ pakistan

Brave souls that you are hiking at night in search of a cemetery!
It’s been a long time since I’ve tramped through a place like that. Thanks for the memories.❤ You guys are crazy to be out there in the dark!😁
Mildred Pierce just happens to be the name of a GREAT movie starring Joan Crawford btw...
Oh man! I'd be really creeped out going out there that late at night. But, I can';t wait to see part 2. Did you ever hear of any ghost stories threw there?
None other than the creepy story Dan told
But it’s definitely haunted by the past, figuratively speaking
Wonderful Property, it Has Everything they needed ...Oh if This Property could talk!

What a fascinating landscape. So mystical. Anyone unfamiliar with coyotes would have thought the sounds were wild human screams. Or just coyotes?
Hollis was a big clan. A lot from Georgia, Alabama, & Mississippi. My 2nd Great Grandfather was a Mississippi Hollis.
I always enjoy your channel. Especially those walks through the woods. I grew up “in the woods”
Great company too!
wow you guys out did yourselves. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Again well done. Brilliant and enjoyable. I would love to just go on a walk with Mr Dan. Oh and nice hat

That was a fun,but spooky hike thru the woods! Looking forward to part 2!
Enjoyed this so much, and waiting for part 2.
Fun walk thanks guys!
What a fun video, love the sounds fogs and leafs under foot. Beautiful
