Just stumbled across Cities Aviv randomly on Tidal. Didn't know he was from Memphis. He raps like my unreleased raps. It's Slam poetry. Hella relatable. One of my new favorite artist
Been bumping Cities Aviv since Black Pleasure 2012. To witness the longevity is crazy. So many cats from that underground scene came and went….He is Hiphops journeyman for sure.
Discovered Cities through a post on reddit about a MIKE type beat by a random fan. I don't remember exactly how it led up to me finding the name, "Cities Aviv" but i remember searching it up on Spotify and shiiiit, i knew i struck gold. Started off with Black Pleasure 2012 and gradually moved up to Man Plays The Horn. Truly an avant-garde artist whose knowledge of sonics is on a league of it's own, an artist who paints with sounds rather than with brushes. I think it's fair to say, crowning him as an underground God wouldn't be pushing it.
Cities has some amazing stuff especially the early stuff but also some recent songs are great as well. The music really has its own identity which I really appreciate. I hope he continues to get recognition because he deserves it.
I have good news for you. Believe it or not, but since Man Plays the Horn dropped, we already got another album under his moniker African-American Sound Recordings. Based on the large amount of output he has recently released, I wouldn't be surprised if we get another full-length album by the end of 2023.
love cities aviv! another artist i recommend u should check out and review is slauson malone specifically the album A Quiet Farwell, 2016-2018 (Crater Speak). really changed the way i see music.
sucks this guy never come clear about his allegations tho the allegations made against him are pretty fucked up i have never enjoyed his music again since i read them (its on wikipedia btw if u want to know about it)
@@marlon6629 I spoke to him over emails about they accusations and he pretty much said it’s a leech old friend that was just slandering his name. I’m sure he has had strange interactions but from the words I’ve exchanged w him he seemed to be pretty well rounded on the malicious perpetration the accuser was falsely holding. I enjoy his music too well to not trust his word but I can fwd u his response to me if u want.
@@cantcornerthedorner3258 sorry for late reply but someone claimed who is "close to him" went to reddit n defended him and if he never done some alleged stuff like that why would someone goes on reddit and defended him (if u want to know i can send the link to u since i cant post link on comments and it will get auto hidden i believe)
@@lonenexus959 I think this line of thinking is strange, because I don't have any opinion on the proper shorthand. It's a live interview, it's just what came naturally to me as I spoke. No further intent was behind that lol. I did not say "Crashing" to assert any authority on the proper shorthand of the album. I appreciate you giving the interview a listen.
im so surprised his music isnt bigger than it is. so many masterpieces

Mannnn, you have so much great music to tap into! I'd make sure you check out THE CRASHING SOUND OF HOW IT GOES, and Black Pleasure 2012!
Haha I can relate to that cause his production sounds like my unreleased beats, makes me feel validated with the shit I'm doing
@@rapmusicplugpodpersonally "Come To Life" has always been my favorite

Perfect way of describing him

how Rohan was calling the album crashing when cities called it crashing sound multiple times really bothered me for some reason
It actually bothered you that I called the album "Crashing" instead of "Crashing Sound"?
It was simply a short-form way to refer to the album.
@@rapmusicplugpod yeah he used crashing sound as the shorthand and I respect his opinion of what the shorthand should be more than yours
