We have been loving all the summer markets! Most recently we visited the Sidney and Metchosin Farmers Markets, both beautiful areas to explore and a lot of talented and kind vendors to visit. Expensive! What’s the average salary people make in these areas to afford these prices?

For the most recent stats (2021), the median after-tax income for families in Victoria was $88,000, relative to a median of $68,400 for families in Canada. Whereas Ratehub.ca calculated a family income of $187,980 needed to qualify for a mortgage on a $985,500 home in Victoria (June 2022).
Victoria is among the highest for house-price-to-income ratios in Canada.
We are beginning to see more programs aimed at providing down payment assistance for first time home buyers, particularly in regard to purchasing condos and townhomes.

@@northpacifichomes I am from US, so I find house prices in Canada expensive specially given the population to land space ratio in that country. Something does not make sense.
