      They're the most affordable solution for HomeKit users now but cheaper solutions may be on the horizon.

    Another great product Rey, thanks for sharing. I want these devices but will take your advice and see if they appear on Amazon.

      Hi Steve, these work really well but I still think these kind of sensors are a bit expensive. With the release of iOS 11.3, less expensive solutions may be coming our way. Thanks for always tuning in!

      Rey G . Hello Rey, the sensors are now on Amazon in my region and I’ve just ordered. Thanks again.

    Works with WiFi or Bluetooth?

    • @ReyG_HKSH

      I believe this is Bluetooth 5.0. There is a better solution coming to market that I’ll cover in an upcoming video. Thanks for watching!

    Is there a way for to set it up where you get alerts when it changes status (from open to close or close to open)?

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, alerts can be set in the Home app.

  • @hikitatsu
    @hikitatsu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The most important question for me: Does the alert work if you are NOT at home?? I find it pretty useless if I'm home...

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, it's how I have it set up and you can set that up in HomeKit to only send alerts when no one is home.

    I have some Koogeek accessories. This Sensor show notifications when a door or windows change the status?

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You can set notifications in the Home app when choosing the sensor and going into "Details." I have notifications set only for when no one is home.

    I understand that replacing the CR battery in one of those Koogeek sensors is a royal pain, that you nearly have to destroy the casing just to open it up. Can you please confirm, perhaps even showing a video of the best way to open up the case? Thanks in advance...enjoying your videos!

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, these are a bit difficult to open. Koogeek actually has a video showing the best way to open the case but it hasn’t been as easy as the video depicts in my experience.

    Funny Because I had the same thing with AliExpress. So I contacted them about it and they gave me a special AliExpress link where the door sensor was the promotion price without shipping costs. So I bought it but it has not arrived yet.

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, did you contact the seller or AliExpress themselves? I might try and contact them myself. Thanks for informing me of your experience!

    • @johnflipse2811
      @johnflipse2811 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rey G I contacted the seller. They first gave me a AliExpress link where there was no shipping cost. But the item had the non promotion pricetag on it. Then I contacted them again and they told me to order it but not yet to pay for it. Afterwards I had to gave the order number to them so they could change the price for me. After that I payed the right promotion price without shipping costs.
      The item is despatched over seas at the moment.
      I hope it helps and if you need anything more from me let me know.

    Great vid, as usual! I ordered one off eBay, hopefully it's legit haha, coming in 2 weeks. I see that it uses Bluetooth 5.0, right? Can't wait for more HomeKit devices to take advantage of that. Have you had a chance to check out the koogeek lightstrip? It's affordable and HomeKit, but looks like they removed it from amazon for some reason.

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Bluetooth 5.0. Not familiar with the Koogeek lightstrip, will need to see if I can track one down as I’d like to add one behind my TV. Thanks for watching!

    Great video Rey! I sub’d. I also did a review on the Koogeek DW1 over on my channel. Did you have any issues getting this DW1 open to get at the battery?

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris, thanks for stopping by. I didn't try to open the DW1, I figured I'd cross that bridge when the battery died. I ordered a couple more and I'll check how difficult it is for to pry that sucker open.

      Hi again. I've recently launched a HomeKit website and aside from putting in details of all (or most) of the available HomeKit stuff that's available, I also write reviews of the stuff I actually own, which isn't that much to be honest! Anyway, one section is TH-cam videos, and a friend of mine who does videos similar to yours (Chris Young - Homekitgeek.com) has graciously allowed me to link his videos on my site. Obviously any views via my site will be added to his views, so it's good for him, and hopefully more subscriptions to his channel will follow on from that. I wanted to see if you'd allow me to do the same? Basically at the moment the menu bar has 'Chris Young - TH-cam' but if added your videos, it would simply be TH-cam, and from there would be two listings, one for you and one for himself. If you're not interested, that's not a problem. I just want to try something where all the smaller enthusiasts can start to come together to make something a bit more noticeable (in the long run). I'm not making any money from this site as it stands (it has only cost me money at this point), and if I do in the future, then I'd look at a way to spread any income fairly, but tbh, I think that's a way off at the moment. Let me know either way and if you'd like to see my site as it stands, go to homekitnews.com

    • @ReyG_HKSH

    I have bought 12 sensors from koogeek via TOMTOP. Two weeks after 5 sensors have failed due to a firmware error. It took me 3 weeks of emails and reminders to have an answer from them. The TOMTOP refuses to refund me : they offered only 25 euro vs. an order of 120 euro, and if I want to ship the product back (at my cost, 50 euro shipment to China) it needs to be in the original packaging , which I don't have. Bad experience, I will never buy again from tomtop and never again a koogeek product!

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t had any of these sensors fail on me since I got them, though I only have four. I’m waiting for the Aqara release to compare the sensors before investing in more. All the Koogeek stuff I’ve purchased so far have worked fine without any problems, but perhaps I’ve been lucky. Have you tried contacting support@koogeek.com? Thanks for the word of warning, and sharing your experience.
