One thing to point out is that with some of the life companies when you make your 2020 AVC they will issue you a tax credit certificate acknowledging this payment, it’s this certificate that needs to be submitted to revenue at the latest 31 October, not the date you make the payment which is an easy mistake to make.

Good tips, but is that tax return math correct? I thought the 40% tax deduction is on pre-tax money, not post-tax (so you should be getting back much more than 40% of your post-tax money).
so to get tax relief for 2023? I must the payment be made before October 31st? I'm asking because I set an annual payment of €2,000 but it turned out that I would earn much more and I wanted do AVC transfer the entire payment subject to 40% tax to my PRSA account

I think you need to be clearer that you are talking about the republic of ireland.
if you're 45 you can contribute up to 25% tax free
