All those years, sitting and managing his wafer shop in Mumbai, little did Boman Irani know that his interactions with customers and observations of human nature was his school of acting, training him subconsciously to one day bring most of these characters and their quirks alive on the silver screen. From shopkeeper, to photographer to actor, and now writer and director, Boman is charging full steam ahead. There is a belief system he never gives up on, and carries on. In Chandigarh for the first Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF), the man known for his iconic characters including Viru Sahastrabuddhe from 3 Idiots, Dr Asthana from Munna Bhai MBBS and Khurana from Khosla KA Ghosla talked about the Parsi legacy, his directorial venture, his screenwriting course, Spiral Bound and why is still a student, always open to learning more.
