I was 7 years old when my parents got their first smoke alarms (this model) from our local fire department in 1979. We didn't have them working for long because they kept sounding off once every couple of weeks. The first time I heard them, it scared me and I cried. It was so damn loud like it was clocked at over 100 db when it's amplified through the house. Our last false alarm happened in the middle of the night was the last straw and we had them all disarmed and never armed again. I was traumatized for years.
