My name is Marlin Back and my Father was Tommy D. Back. My family live on Elk Creek and I have heard the stories of Elder I.D. all my life. To hear him sing and preach is a true joy. Thank you for posting this.
I.D. was related to my grandmother, Minerva (Back) Craft. I feel proud of this relation and all my mountain family. I think I heard I.D. preach at my great grandmother, Maggie Back's, funeral in 1986. Is that possible? Or maybe it was our other cousin, Elwood Cornett. What faith. It inspires me.
I heard this man preach several times. I never thought I'd have the opportunity to hear him again. I loved to hear him sing too. What a blessing. Thank you for posting this.
There's just enough here to make me want to hear more. I have looked on Sermon Audio for him and can't find him. Hope you have more to post. Love to hear him. Thanks for sharing.
I thought ID was my uncle until I was grown. The photo used on this video is one I took of ID and my Dad Green Watts at the Mount Olivet Old Regular Baptist Church in Blackey during a New Year's Eve singing. This was one special person!
Do you have any recordings of him? Bro Melvin was more active during the times not much recording was done and some church's didn't do it. I have pictures of him but no recordings.
God bless you for the old path and the straight gate and the men who stood in the gap and preached amen
