Deck tennis and sun bathing. Cocktails after games. Cocktails being mixed and drinking in the lounge. Deck horse racing night. Ladies wind miniature horses toward a winning post.
Silver cups are presented. Passengers go ashore for a day trip in Italy, views and ruins and traditional dancing. VG shots of peasant women sorting fish on quayside with fishing boats in BG. Couple from ship on a gondola in Venice. Pigeons in the square.
Back at sea and sailor paints ships chains white. More deck games and swimming in the pool. Buffet on deck and eating in deck chairs. Crew talking to the passengers, Montage of Offices and crew doing their jobs. WS ship sailing away.

I was a restaurant steward, wine steward, and finally a public room steward on the Orcades in 1963. What a fantastic experience was for a young man, like I was. I recognize the Captain and the barmen shaking the cocktails 'Doug'. March 2023

I returned to England on the Orcades in 1963 from Australia, arriving during the winter of 63, I was 9 at the time.
People were so decent back then. I always remember my Dad wore a tie and a hat whenever he was out of the house and holidays were special times.
