This was great. My dad was a babalao. He was very passionate about the religion. He was constantly studying. He would say this is a degree you obtain and then get to studying. He passed 14 years ago. Listening to you guys reminds me of how he spoke. Bless you guys.
Wow.... the way that man speaks spoke volumes to me. No wonder my spirits keep bumping into this religion and directing me into many paths. Shubert Awo Odi Leke truly hit it on that target well when he stated about wanting to learn everything there is. I am very similar. I love learning why animals and plants are the way they are, and what some are used for the religious practices while others aren't, and how some cleanse ore moves while other adds or protects, etc. That is why I ended up in this. It is about resolving, finding answers to add and assist the community and the energies around us. I see my community and cry, because I want to help it, but don't know how any more, because at the end it seem to futile, but Ifa, in my case Santera, it explains it all so well and be directed in other ways where it can assist others in other ways. Oh I can't thank you gentlemen enough for the services you provide here in TH-cam and everywhere else. Baba Joseph, especially thank you for these series. These truly helps makes sense of things and helping out to find ones potential. ASE! 🙏🥰
Gbogbo Iboru Gbogbo Iboya Gbogbo Ibocheche...waiting on this episode like a child who thinks he can rush the clock by watching the time 😂 With love from the Bahamas...Asé
Iboru, iboya, ibosheshe...... my two favorite! I love that you two are together sharing your knowledge. I am so greatful that i am able to witness and experience both of your teachings. Thank you
I feel the same way about this religion because if I didn't have to sleep or eat, I would study it all the time. Every time I get a tip on a book, video or influencer, I can't wait to hear what they have to say and I ask myself, are they into ceremony, spiritualism, IFA philosophy, Botanica products, etc. Now I know what to ask. However, the saying, if you leave Orula for two days, he leaves you for two weeks, is deep because there is so much to learn and no time to waste. I really feel like I have come full circle with this African traditional spirituality. It is so different from Christianity which was shoved down our throats since birth. Now I feel like I must get to know the Orisha and the Yoruba Pantheon so much so that I call them by default.
This was amazing! You two are the main cyber ifa informers that I listen to. I’m terrified of scammers but you both have such wisdom, professionalism, and love for the world that I can connect with. Can’t wait til that part 2 in person😊
Baba Josef, that was an extremely enlightening question on how important it is to unify rather than compete. There is a cosmic shift occuring. Traditions are experiencing an expansion being put forth by young Baba's as yourself. I believe the consideration is how do you maintain the purity and survival of the matter as the form is changing. I note that IFA within the Lukumi tradition is now being open for interpretation in the modern scheme of things. Each Awo from different lineages have different approaches to the same problems. Additionally, as you've mentioned Capitalism plays a role. So yes, how do you unify into a collective while maintaining the foundational principles of the religion. The fact that you two brothers from different houses are doing a podcast attest that it is possible.
Amazing video. Thank you, gentlemen! I used to work as a sound engineer so the volume difference between you two Is something worth mentioning (I'm sure you're already aware). I met Orunmila in a dream (before I even knew anything about him). At one point he showed me an amazingly gorgeous gem-like material That was in the shape of a uterus. When I asked him what that was, he said "That's Africa." As he continued to diligently carry out divination, I went to sit down next to him and sat on something and broke it. I was immediately terrified, and apologetic. He smiled and said it's okay. When I picked up what I sat on, It was a wooden doll that looked like a howdy doody ventriloquist type doll. It was all busted up from me sitting on it. I asked him what is this? He said "That? That's humility." (I immediately understood The point of that interaction. I am notoriously insensible about my humility, and am lacking in it). Thank you again for the videos, Baba!
I am so mad I missed the live but I’m here now! My second and third favorite Babalows … my dads first ❤ but I follow you both and you two are full knowledge, humility, and respect!!! Thank you for your wisdom
He says he was a Catholic school boy, I've known so many in this religion that are practicing Catholics at the same time! To me it's similar. Nothing wrong with it.
Yay! This was great! I found the La Regla De Ifa y Osha channel a while back and think it’s a really good one. I loved this conversation and it’s wonderful to see you both together!💖🌘
Oluo’s Iburo iboya Ibocheche! What an amazing partnership ! I’ve been a subscriber since the beginning. I always look forward to y’all knowledge in every video y’all drop. We are definitely stronger together!!! Keep up the AMAZING content
So grateful for you both! I have been following and watching both of you for quite some time while trying to find a babalawo in MIami who can teach me in English. I understand everything in Spanish but speaking certain words is a little difficult for me. Baba Joseph, if you know anyone down here in Miami that you trust, a recommendation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for everything!
I feel the same way. I live in Hialeah and it can be daunting and discouraging, because even though there are many Babas, Iyalawos, Santeros and Santeras, there are many who aren't genuine or sincere, while also the language barrier can be discouraging at times. I know Spanish from an auditory perspective and there are certain moments where I do know the material, but it is impossible to response back in Spanish but easier in English. There are also many Lucumi practitioners here in Miami-Dade county overall who don't even know what they are talking about and don't even know the Yoruba language and make up chants or words. It would be nice to get recommendations from accredited leaders with amazing reputation to create future leaders to spread throughout the lands. I know where your frustrations and anxiety reside, because I am in that same place. I am still looking. ASE!
@@LadyCoyKoi thank you 🙏🏻 I will continue to search for a house here that I can trust. WHEN I find one, I will inform you in the event you would like to see if they fit your needs as well.
Since moving to Miami I have found a beautiful ile (spiritual home) and the best babalawo and iyalosha whom I respect and have learned so much from! I agee that if i could sit at their feet all day and just learn I would! But of course most of our lifestyles aren't built that way. That's why videos like these are important because there is so much to learn and different perspectives within the faith that should be explored. Also, as the tradition becomes more material for alot of us its important to have discernment because not everyone has iwa pele. Still, trust that when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Thank you Baba Joseph for showing up and making such trustworthy videos.
