This video is really great! The method they recommend for sharpening a cutter takes just 2 minutes and is very easy to do. The instructions in the video are very detailed and easy to understand, allowing viewers to quickly apply them in practice. This helps increase the life of the drill bit and save costs for users. Overall, this is a useful video with quality content
Evenin. A word to the wise, if you use the SIDE of a CUTTING disc for grinding then it can weaken it so much that it may disintegrate and practically explode. This happened to me with a 9" grinder if I had not been wearing a face shield I would have lost my sight, even though the grinder blade shield was on. Also these disc can deteriorate over time and some have a USE BY date on them. I wish you safe and happy grinding.
the cutting edge on the drill bit has no negative rake angle( clearance).needs backed off, this will extend the life of the cutting edge of the drill bit.
Hola.
It appears that your jig has given the drill negative rake - yes it drills but not well - there are many of the following jigs for a standard bench grinder available th-cam.com/video/wv8UNpTkFJQ/w-d-xo.html Try one they are cheap, plentiful and work well - the offset on the pivot gives the drill the required rake. IMHO drills 1/4" and up are easy to grind by hand - there are plenty of videos on doing this. In the field (if stuck) I will use what ever grinder etc. is available to touch up a drill. Manual hand grinding a drill is a skill worth learning.
Hello. Thank you for your feedback. It is better to use 2 discs because when grinding the drill bit against 1 disc it will vibrate or break. If you can find countersunk bolts, that would be great
Even if this wasn't idiotic from a safety point of view, if you pause the video at 5:22, you'll see that there's no clearance! What a stupid idea, and foolishly bad technique.
Must have had another drill bit that was sharp, so you could build that jig for sharpening drill bits…. I believe I could make that and I don’t have a vice to hold the side grinder. 👍🏻🇺🇸👏🫶🏻it 8/8/24
Hello. We did the grinding and drilling with the same drill bit. If you have a better grinding method, please share with us. We are happy to learn from you

Great idea I only have 1 suggestion. Try to find countersink bolt that will make it flash with angle so you are not restricted to size of drill bit?
Thank you for the suggestion! That’s a great point, and I’ll consider it for future projects. 😊

Multumesc
Hello, you can use this tool to sharpen your drill bit. Each drill bit I grind has a diameter of 6mm

Hello friend. I am using Hai Duong green cutting disc. You can look up images on google translate for more information
Aprovado, com certeza.
Welcome to Alva Welding channel! Thank you so much for your comment! have a nice day!
❤❤❤🎉😊
Thank you for your support! 😊
The inner part of the sharpened bit looks darker than the tested one.
Thanks for your observation! It’s common for the inner part of the bit to show a darker tone due to the sharpening process.

Zle narušený vrták, ta časť vrtaku co ma zabrať do materiálu je nižšie zabrusena ako zadná časť
You’re right! It’s important to keep the drill bit properly sharpened to avoid this issue.
