Always wash your meat and fish before cooking regardless of the heat killing the germs. I wash my fish with one half of lime or lemon 🍋 throw off the water then season it with garlic, thyme, onion, black pepper (optional)and salt then dip in flour and fry taste much better. Your mom's biscuits stuck to the dish because she didn't grease the dish before putting in the flour dough💕🥰.

Be very careful with your produce and wash everything before cooking as the people who prepares and rap can be very careless, be more careful as you have children besides it takes no time to do. Happy cooking I'm an excellent cook.🦈💗🙏🏽

Most blacks (Caribbean, African Americans, Africans, ect ) and
Latinas wash their meat. Some even clean poultry in vinegar, lemon ect if you let the wash it off in a bowl, you will see all the grimy residue that comes of the poultry (chicken, Turkey, duck ect). People at stores who package the meat, vegetables and fruit handle it with their hands, everyone don’t always wash their hands or use gloves. So it’s wise for to wash everything, this is why there are recalls on vegetables because people get food poisoning and contamination from poultry. We know a lot of white people say not to wash it, but no one from our community ever gets food poisoning or sick because we take it seriously about cleaning all our meats (including fruits and vegetables). You should always keep your sink clean too with disinfectant and bleach. They key to being a good cook is keeping your hands clean at all times and avoiding cross contamination. 😊🤷🏾‍♀️

Eh, experts say not to wash raw meat because it just spreads the bacteria around. I agree w/ Dianna. They all get killed in the cooking process anyway.

Most of my meats I clean with lemon or lime and salt, believe me it makes a difference. I’m older than your parents Diana and I was taught this way by my parents, we then clean anything that meat touches with hot soapy bleach water, sink and dishes. Old School keeps things very sanitary.

Some consumers may wash or rinse their raw meat or poultry because it's a habit or because a family member they trust has always washed their meat. USDA research found that washing or rinsing meat or poultry increases the risk for cross-contamination in the kitchen, which can cause foodborne illness.

Dianna, exactly. I've always heard wash the meat. But I either read or saw on TV, a woman cook says you don't have to clean your meat. Cleaning it in the sink spreads the bacteria around in the sink and out of the sink also, I would think. But, one very good cook on You Tube, Charlie Andrews, awesome, I recommend him, from New Orleans, cooks any American style food, says washing the meat he'll cook gets any blood that may be still on the meat off. My fruits and veggies, I soak them in salt and white vinegar and then rinse off. Did you guys season the fish? All the food look so good. Cherish these times with your Mom! Learn all you can from her while you can. My favorite place is in my kitchen. Beautiful memories of my Mom and Aunties fills my heart with joy! I have my own takes on some of their recipes and now I'm making them my own, and passing them down to my son! (Only child) Sooo, wash the fish, the liquid it's packed in needs to be rinsed off. Lemon water works well. And plan that the meal is all hot when ready to eat! That comes with time and experience!! I watch every episode and I'm in a 25 years and counting interracial marriage!! I LOVE MY BOYS!

My mother washed her meats faithfully. She was raised on a farm where you slaughtered your own meat. She cooked thoroughly and her food was highly nutritiou and no flavor lost.. your mother's bread only went slightly wrong. She needed a cast iron seasoned pan, heated first in the oven like she said, oil the pan and add the batter and it would have risen to a lovely golden brown and been just fine. Just like she said, butter and syrup and you would not believe it. It's an old fashioned black folks dish from way back in the country. She remembers.

Both are right. Better wash the meat before cooking and immediately clean the sink with soap with baking soda. Also must clean your hands with soap and baking soda. So you don't spread germs to faucet to stove handle. Hope that helps. Also wear cooking glove to touch meat.

Dianna wash your meat, I like to use a little vinegar, salt, or lemon juice, when I wash my meat, it depends on the meat….don’t wash it in the sink, use a separate clean bowl to wash your meat, and then you can use a plastic storage bag with your flour or cornmeal and seasonings in it, then add your fish or chicken and shake it, then you fry or bake meat, whichever you prefer, but please wash your meat👍🏾😀I don’t claim to be a pro, but I have been cooking since I was about 10 years old👍🏾😀Take care and happy cooking😀

I wash as well. It cleans the residue off from the packaging company. There are stuff we do not see. As well, quality of the meet is different in each country. Korea might have a higher standard so that is why you feel like you don't need to wash your meat, unlike the US.

Dianna, if you ever get to visit a meat packing plant you would understand the importance of rinsing your meat before preparing it for cooking. You should clean and sanitize all utensils, counters, plates, etc where the meat was before preparing for cooking.

Hi Dianna, Henry, Minji, & Jun! I just wanted you to know, I thoroughly enjoyed the videos you shared concerning your family in the USA. Dianna has the princess treatment from her parents. Her mother’s laughter is infectious; I can relate to their relationship very much. I also enjoy the videos you shared with Henry’s mom; I wish I could taste her cooking. I bet it is delicious. Sincerely, Wanda
