I first saw Fred Dibnah 3 months ago on TH-cam and thought… what an amazing human being ….. and then after binge watching everything I could about him, I come to the realization that he is no longer with us… He really lived his life to the fullest!
Living in the US didn’t get a lot of BBC shows …sorry I missed his! Thanks for posting this Tribute the song fits like a glove!

He would indeed be saddened to see what has become of the once Great Britain- God rest his soul. Great Britain was built by men of his calibre, tempered by flame and fire, balls of Sheffield steel. We are in your debt. Greetings from Tasmania Australia-a Leeds Tyke born the same year-I saw the writing on the wall mid 60’s and left the UK to share my skills in a growing country-sadly now also going the same way.😢

Hugely moving and hugely unexpected. I mean. Peter Gabriel, the one who used to sing weird, intellectual lyrics like "Take a little trip back with Father Tiresias" singing this simple, touching song while being accompanied by a brass band. Who'd've thought it? And yes, Fred Dibnah was a national treasure, a symbol of all the practical, working class men of my childhood that arrogant, poncey college boys like me thought we were better than.
