I had seen this movie in my younger days with my friends in 70s , in old theatre of Bangalore, we were not in a position to understand the ending of movie, especially the story and message of movie, except the intensity and tragedic acting of Dilip saheb. Some critics have noted the innocence of Dilip Kumar in his acting. Infact the movie has a message to the youth not to blindly involve in relation with out thinking of the future and making promises and the other side also should not take seriously such promises as final decision, and should act naturally without too much expectations, which will end in tragic. So the Dilip Saheb has perfectly seems to be innocent youth who innocently promises before Amar that he will help in the marriage of his daughter Nargis and further says that she is fine. Not thinking that Nargis in love with him, he involved in love with Munawar Sultana. Dilip Saheb, Nargis and Munawar Sultana have shown their utmost abilities. Very fine movie produced by Naushad Saheb and directed by SY. Sunney.
