Unpopular opinion for the later seasons: I couldn’t stand Serena!! She became such a toxic, envious, bratty character. Always wanting revenge on people, always mad when someone like Blair would get more attention to her, and just always plotting against her “friends”. They all did it throughout the entire show but in the beginning, Serena was really made out to be the cool, calm, charming girl who just wanted peace with everyone. But later on she just turned into such a brat!
Right? And she was all this while also having this ‘holier than thou’ attitude towards everyone else. It pissed me off to no extent.
In some ways her and Dan probably deserved each other. Because Nate was too good for her.

I never would have thought Dan as a narcissist or sadistic… but it makes so much sense. You would never destroy your own family or the women you love. You protect the people you love and your conscience wouldn’t let you. Such a good insight 🙀👌

Thank god someone said it!! Dan being gossip girl makes TOTAL sense to me. Since the first episode I was sure it was him and even though I was right, the writers did not disappoint… It makes sense for him to be gossip girl since he was an outsider looking in, not to mention the way gossip girl always focused on Serena etc. i loved the ending so much and truly thought it would be a bummer if gg was, idk, Blair

Kristen Bell was the voice of Gossip Girl, who later became the voice of Anna in the Disney movie 'Frozen'. What really threw me in the finale was learning that GG was actually a male after five years of hearing a female's voice.
My husband and I were late to the party and never watched it when it came out. We started our binge last year and watched it all. We were addicted and my husband loved it. Gossip girl came out and we were both 26 so felt we were too old for it and we’re enjoying our life. 10 years later we watched it and loved it and changed our mind. Your never too old for GG.

I'm a Gossip Girl and Blair Waldorf fan so nobody come at me: Blair's bullying was also glorified. She was easily forgiven because she was 'not as bad as Serena' or 'she put her scheming to good use by taking down Georgina'. Her intelligence and drive and other good characteristics, does not, and should not have excused her bullying. I was so moved by the scene where she admitted to her mother about her darkness and wanting to step down from the brand, but she then continued on her scheming and bullying habits. As much as she grew, she never sought to correct her bullying. I'm pretty sure if the Reboot was all the old characters, bullying would have still been her entire personality even as a mother wife and business owner.
I know your opinions are unpopular, but lolll I agree with like 90% of them. Especially your take on Vanessa. I do think the writers were classist in their writing of having the voice for the poor being the most unlikable of all the characters, but how she was written? Yeah, she was a hypocrite, judgmental, and inserted herself in places where she wasn't needed. And no self reflection for herself. Dislike of her is not rooted in classism: the writing is.
Also I love that your favorite flavor of macaron is pistachio! I LOVE pistachio flavored macarons -- and muffins for that matter!
I was more into Rufus and lily relationship than Dan and Serena. Also agree with you them being together wouldn’t be a problem. All your points were right. I was all there for Blair and Chuck were the perfect love story. There the only characters I did see character development over the seasons. Like we seen them change and learn from there mistakes.
I don't typically watch mukbangs, but this is the most elegant one I've seen! I wouldn't expect any less from you. Haha. I would love more videos like this. And even though Gossip Girl finished years ago, I love when it comes up!

Serena & Nate would've been a powerful hot couple, Dan was a insecure, he always have issues with Serena's past, and always blame her about everything.
Dan was so awful and honestly sexist to Serena he slut-shamed her and judged her at every turn. Nate was a bit less intelligent but he was also more innocent and someone like Serena would be way happier with someone who has that personality type. She would have been clever enough to keep poor Nate from being scammed or messed with and he would have accepted her for who she is.
POV: Dan is a sociopath in gossip girl and the serie “you” is about his life after gossip girl. Nobody can say to me that this is not true 😂
OMG, i have a same feeling too. He is playing the exact same character of Dan in "You", no one can deny it. If you want to how his life descends after gossip girl, definitely watch "You". He will soon start to obsess with another blond again.
Major GG fan here 🙋♀️ I've been watching it for nearly 15 years just on repeat. My sister and I play all kinds of games with GG together like guessing what episode we are playing just by the intro. I agree with everything you said but mostly Dan being GG. When he says he wrote himself into the world I get major goosebumps every single time!!! I was the one who said the Blair/Dan one, and I stand by what I said. They should have been endgame, Chuck was so bad to Blair and I hated how the show romantizaced their toxic dynamic, I honestly feel only Dan got the real Blair and appreciated how smart she actually was and built her up instead of tearing her down
However yeah people forgave him too easily, he should have been exiled from the elites and then Blair and him reunited in some way or another
And also Nate is a big YES. Cute, honest, humble and just an overall good person in a place where being good people actually took effort surrounded by so many questionable human beings. Why do people like bad boys so much??? Who would enjoy being treated like Chuck treats Blair?? Istg
I totally agree, I also sent in a submission that was around that same idea. The fact that Blair went to Yale in the books but in the show went to NYU was unforgivable. Like she is literally a legacy due to her father going there. A Constance/Yale Dan and Blair relationship would have been to die for!!
The banter and intellectual conversations Blair and Dan had would have been amazing in the first couple seasons of the show if it went for an academic rivals to lovers storyline. I believe that the show runners ended up stating that school rivals to lovers was the original plan and there were hints of it early in the show like when Dan comforts Blair after the photo shoot fiasco (Serena being the main model and her mom putting her business over Blair’s feelings). Dan opens up and explains what happened to him prior to the show and we get insight as to where his mother was, which because he is not in the “in” crowd we rarely got to see. Dan and Blair’s connection over having difficulties surrounding only being raised by a single parent and striving for the best was never really appreciated. Another example is that it is revealed later in the show that Dan went to Blair’s Constance’s essay winning award show. Dan was the only one to show up. The show writers added that little line because they originally had it set to be filmed and do an overarching storyline but due to the writers strike at that time, plots were cut and rearranged.
I can’t say I am fan of Chuck solely because of his less than favorable actions, but what I can say is he lost my vote for lead love interest when he did the whole selling Blair for a hotel plot line.

I sent one along those lines too, l really really liked them together, too bad the writers decided to make Dan a complete douche by the end. The way Blair disdains him in the final season, after all they’ve been through, kind of breaks my heart. As if nothing good ever happened between them and he’s just a vermin. Smh
I personally think that Dan didn’t bring out the real Blair, he brought out a part of Blair that she wanted to be but wasn’t really her! If anything, Blair was her most authentic self with Chuck! And I think people don’t like that because that person isn’t necessarily a nice person, but that’s Blair! She’s not nice! She’s overly ambitious and conniving! It was nice to see another side to her but the reason it didn’t last is she was always trying to be someone she wasn’t for Dan, and she never had to do the with Chuck! Chuck and Blair really did belong together!
Yes to Blair and Dan bring endgame. It’s the only relationship that feels genuine and shows character growth.

I’ve done the same myself, and I always find that I am able to continually reevaluate my reactions to storylines and character arches with every re-watch, and I believe that that is what true fans of the show do! 💓

I tried to watch the gossip girl reboot and it was awful. Definitely for the new generation. I couldn’t even make it through the first episode it was totally ridiculous

Funny, true story: my first time in NYC a guy who kind of resembled him approached me at a museum when I was taking photos & I was SO nervous (bc he was handsome, way ‘out of league’, but most importantly totally remind me of Nate) that I started sweating so much that my GLASSES FOGGED UP. 💀 it got so bad that I could barely see out of them. I also hated the ending so much! I didn't like Dan being gossip girl but i can see it. If they would have made him an outcast again like you said, then i think it would have made more sense. Him ending up with Serena was weird and him still having friends was weird. I preferred Serena and Nate but i never felt like Serena deserved Nate! I kind of think Nate and Blair ending up together would have been much better. I do think Blair and Chuck had insane chemistry but it was always the same toxic thing with them. I don't think they ever really grew together. They should have have ended that relationship after Chuck got shot and left for a while. Them meeting up and Blair letting him go was beautiful. Blair and Dan were really fun to watch as friends and i did like them together but i still would rather have her end up with Nate. But mostly i wish they would have ended the show with both Serena and Blair as single women, finally living their life without Gossip girl and toxic men! The only relationship i actually wanted was Rufus and Lily! I also think part of why people didn't like them being together at the same time as Serena and Dan was because Serena and Dan shared a brother. That to me will always be weird.

Nate? Loyal? Lol he cheated on Blair with her best friend. Not to mention he had a secret affair with a married woman, hooked up with his boss and became involved with two minors in the series. He was the poster boy for dating unavailable women/girls. I would never describe him as loyal or even moral in that regard 😅 As for his other attributes I agree. He got away with serious indiscretions because he's a golden retriever in human form.
He was loyal after the Blair Serena drama. Hooking up with a married woman doesn’t make him disloyal considering he doesn’t owe the husband any loyalty, the wife does. Also she was legal in his state so she wasn’t a minor, plus when he and Jenny hooked up he was also a minor

I don’t know if I’m still convinced that Dan made a good gossip girl, but I do agree on the rest of your opinions. Dan and Serena may have been our first big couple, but throughout the series, they were probably one of the most toxic. Absolutely agreed Nate and Serena should have been together. Everyone in GG has their problems, so we can’t expect a perfect relationship from anyone (not even our favorite Chuck and Blair!) But Nate definitely loved Serena and Serena arguably was at some of her bests with him. Rufus and Lily were a gem that got sacrificed 😭 We do have to remember that this is upper society and Lily is a very influential figure, so her marrying a former singer AND their children dating is probably two big no-no’s that add. But if anyone had to be sacrificed, it should have been Dan and Serena LOL.
I do agree Blair in person would be awful, but lets be real; basically ALL the cast members would be awful in person. No one is excluded when it comes to worsening other people’s lives at one point or another in the show. The reason I at least appreciate Blair is that she’s upfront about it. If she doesn’t like you, she’ll make it known. If she didn’t like something you did, you already know shit is going to go down LOL. Other characters will tell you to your face its okay and then go behind your back. This goes to the point about people not liking Serena bc this is exactly why I don’t like her either. I really hated how she played victim so many times when she wasn’t. And she’s definitely the one who will say its okay to your face when it’s not. Again, no one on GG is perfect, but its just this combo on Serena that makes her one of my least favorites (though not the same as worst written.)
Highly agree about Elenor being the “best” mother (keeping in mind once again that no mother on GG is perfect.) I hated how she contributed to Blair’s body dysmorphia in s1, but she definitely learned and grew from it. Better late than never I always say (and if I remember correctly, she even becomes concerned that Blair started it again later in the series which to me shows she’s really reflecting on herself.) other then that, Elenor was a girl boss 😂
My most differing opinion is that I absolutely love Chuck 😭 I’m sorry I’m basic but I just love the bad boy falls for the good(??????) girl trope 😂 I think Nate was just too much of a nice guy+closed minded to be with Blair. I’m not sure whether its because he was so in love with Serena to give her a chance, but it was like he expected perfection out of Blair and when she wasn’t he used it as excuses. I think Blair and Chuck have bad points, as all couples do, but they really balance each other out.

you are absolutely right about dan- I agree! I think it made a lot of sense (much more so than anyone else!) and was well justified by the end. i agree with everything you thought about the ending! and I loved Juliet too!

Wow! Really loved your take on the ending! I felt like the exposure of Gossip Girl deserved a grand reveal and that the reaction wasn’t on point. agree that Dan being gossip girl is genius! Loved the video a lot, maybe you could do more in the future, also with more series

Blair is my icon as well! I believe her character to be the most well developed and complexly written in the series.
The Gossip Girl book series is much better. While Nate and Serena do not end up together in the books either, it’s more of a serious love triangle between Blair, Nate, and Serena. I just also preferred the characterization of everyone in the books over the TV series. But I agree Nate and Serena should have been endgame in the show (as well as the books). I strongly disliked Dan throughout and I definitely wasn’t a fan of Dan and Serena. I also have a love/hate relationship with the Chuck and Blair pairing.
My favorite macaron flavor is matcha or pistachio.
I normally hate mukbangs because people are disgusting but your set up was very aesthetically pleasing and you have nice manners, so I definitely want more lmao. I like this version of Freddy, speaking her mind. 💚✨

I 100% agree with you - when you have already experienced what feels to you as the perfect show, there's never that need to feel like you absolutely have to watch the reboot - it almost spoils the show for you and you are so right Freddy, it's for the new generation and that's also okay.

It took so long to get there that I stopped watching. Too much bed-hopping for me (with all of the characters). But, I liked that they married.
This is my favourite thing I watched on youtube for a long time. I love gossip girl! I will watch it with my kids when they are teenagers. It's a classic like grease. I also loved Nate as a teenagers. He is so handsome.

About the reboot, it’s great as a stand alone show but definitely is not a gossip 2.0! That how I justified watching! It’s just so so different! And I loved it once I stopped comparing it to the og gossip girl!

I agree with almost all of this so much! Especially the ending and Dan! Serena and Nate definitely should’ve ended up together and I like the idea of Dan getting exiled so it can be the core four, because I love the episodes the four of them work together! I don’t think Nate was that great of a character I think he was really self righteous at a lot of points in the show and yes he didn’t do as much as the other characters but that doesn’t excuse what he did do just because it was ‘less’ than the others. And when Blair and chuck first get together and she’s really happy and Nate tries to get her back,he was the reason she was upset and now she’s moved on and happy he couldn’t be happy for her!

And 100 times yes about everything about Nate! It was never Chuck for me, always Nate! He was the only one who was genuinely a good person. He was so kind and caring and definitely the most handsome character!!!
