South Africa has actually been spoken of as the gateway to Africa. This issue is the racial divisions on both sides and the greed of the present government. Afrikaaners has a calvinist belief system (I'm ignorant of the NG kerks history of supporting Apartheid) but it's Christian none the less. Black South Africans have a christian background bought in by colonialism but it's Christian none the less. Most people I grew up around did none of the ancestoral worship stuff, they were strong believers in Christ. On the black side of things people have been exhausted by pastors from foreign countries performing signs and fake wonders while preaching the properity gospel. On the white side of things it's a soft gospel based on filling up seats rather speaking of prayer and challenging sin. This is my current view of the church in SA at the moment.
