    You made a really great point about the weight that I didn't hear after watching dozens of other videos about hubs. Makes me feel better about my CSL Universal purchase. I'm not a big paddle guy anyways. Subscribed!

    I was almost going to give this video a miss for fear of it being click bait but glad I did not. As a prospective purchaser I was concerned about the weight of it but had been wondering how much that would matter given the weight is more centralised than it would be if you were talking about a heavy rim (like that BMW wheel). But it soulds like my concerns were founded. I am still using the XBox Elite rim which weighs in at less than 1 kg but it is completely worn out. Was considering the Clubsport flat rim V2 and the CSL equivalent but it sounds like the CSL is the better way to go if outright fidelity matters.

    Good for you on subscribers.Thats great , This helped me make the decision on buying this thing, Especially at 349.50 with shipping and tax's over 400. not cheap.

    Hey! I just hit a hundred too! Congrats :D (although I just looked and now you're at 200, double congrats xD)
    Also great video! I was thinking of getting this and getting an aftermarket wheel. I really want a wheel the size of a regular wheel which is like 50mm bigger than anything Fantac has xD

    No bs, customizing the button clusters and changing out the paddle shifters for the advanced module are a lesson in frustration management. They have made this thing that looks incredibly customizeable, but you find that the positioning of those clusters is actually really limited if you want to use all four (and then you find out that on Xbox, two of them are even more redundant). I'm planning on removing two of mine, but it was such a pain to do it the first time I'm going to have to talk myself into it.

      Update: removed the two useless button clusters and it made a huge difference. Much easier to put back together without those two wires.

      Glad it wasn't just me though. Most of their wheels seem to come with these buttons including my XBox Elite wheel rim. But after looking at what is involved I just didn't bother. Luckily my sim racing being restricted to what would now be deemed "heritage" cars does not require a complex wheel setup. Headlights and wipers are about the only car functions I bother to muck with in my short races.

    I dont mean to nit pick but 5/16 and 8mm are not same. Can get away with it but eventually youll strip something. Metric isnetric and sae is sae... Be careful

    Fanatec's weights listed on website are way off. The weight has pros and cons. It makes clipping much smoother and feels more realistic, but you lose feel in fbb with only 8.5 nm. The $200 wheels from fanatec feel cheap and make clipping annoying. I prefer the weight over fbb feedback, lap times are similar.

    I just got the Hub V2 and I love it. I like the stealth all black look (can't stand those hubs that look like Fisher Price). You will get more button caps than the one's showed in the promos. Placement is perfect for standar rims, button switches have some travel distance to them (more on the arcade cabinet side, than what I am used to, but I like it). As weight goes, I guess it's a preference thing. I like some weight to it. Price seems a bit high, but it's a nice hub. I got mine on a Black Friday deal. I don't have V1 but they seem virtualy the same to me.

    Great review, is the fidelity loss with heavier rims noticeable? I’m planning on getting the csl dd and want to get the club sport hub (1kg)with a 900g rim and was wondering if it would be too heavy for something like drifting? I currently have t300.

    • @Steeboohken
      @Steeboohken  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Clubsport Universal Hub weighs about as much as the BMW GT2 V1 rim once a steering wheel is attached to it. I do notice the loss of fidelity when using both wheels. I think it's too heavy for the belt driven wheelbases... I'm hanging on to both rims to see if the CSL DD has the same issue.

    I don't know if it's because of your clubsport v2.5 but me with my DD1 and my Clubsport Wheel - BMW M3 GT2 -
    Clubsport Steering Wheel F1 2021 and DD1 Wheel Rim Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Leather there is no difference in feel.

    Subbed man!.
    I'm curious, If I stricktly play rally games and sim drifting, would I need the universal hub? Could I just buy a steering wheel and a static shifter and skip on the universal hub?

    • @Steeboohken
      @Steeboohken  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the Universal Hub would allow you to use steering wheels with the correct diameter and depth for a more immersive experience for rally and drifting.
      And thanks for the sub!

    The quick release hub rips out of the hub. Not repairable. The new V2 has a replaceable quick release.

    Wow, I didn't think that the BMW rim would be heavier than the universal hub, that's great info that is difficult to find a definitive answer for.
    How do you like the size of the r300 rim?
    I've only got a formula rim so I'm trying to decide between the RSR rim or universal hub for a round(ish) wheel, any thoughts?

    • @Steeboohken
      @Steeboohken  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really like how the R300 rim feels... but if I had to choose I'd picked the Porsche RSR.

      The BMW rim in the V2 version you bought now is as light as the other wheels. I think best value at the moment for round shaped wheels is Clubsport RS wheel.

    I’m honestly so unsure on what to do for a wheel. I wanna get the new dd from fanatec but not sure what wheel/rim to get I do mostly oval racing and sometimes some Indycar racing.

    • @Soske20
      @Soske20 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it will help you, I can speak from my experience with the csl dd and two rims. I got the budget rims, so the wrc and the McLaren gt3 rim. If you like formula or gt racing and don’t need a full wheel for rally or sims like euro truck, get the mclaren wheel. For the price it’s very good and has every feature you’ll probably need. A week ago I went for the wrc wheel and until now I am enjoying it heavily because I really like drifting and rallying and this wheel is perfect for that. I know it’s not the pretties and most premium wheel from fanatec but it’s still miles better than my old thrustmaster t150 rim. If I had more money and patience I would probably go for the clubsport rs which seems like a really high quality rim and can be used for everything except probably drifting (because if the shifter light).
      Anyways, hope that could help a bit lol

      @@Soske20 Hey there I am going to get a CSL DD and was thinking about the WRC wheel simply cause all I do is drift, I do have budget for more expensive wheels but now that you said the CSL wheel is better I believe you. Could you give me more technical details about why that is so and that shifter light thing?
      Thank you a lot, much appreciated.

      @@synqFPS oh well. I just looked up some pictures of the clubsport rs and I think I’ve talked a bit bs. I really thought that the shifter light would stick out a bit so that when you try to let the wheel slide in your hands it would get stuck or you could injure your hand. But now I see that this probably won’t be a problem, at least not more problematic than with the wrc wheel. The wrc has this led thingy as a whole part of the wheel and it consists of plastic or some kind of hard plastic that feels a bit like glass. The problem is that when let the wheel slide my hand or especially my gloves grip on that part because it just is more grippy and that rarely interrupts my drifts. I would say that this won’t occur on the clubsport rs as the rev light is not a whole part of the wheel so you probably won’t touch it at all. Hope this helps and sorry for that claim, had really thought it would be a problem.
