      @Hor a victim to protests maybe? Charles & his wife have been not as king but as Prince of wales in some spotting spots where protesters stirred things up & even wrecked cars & threw things at the armored windows... went lemons do damage to cars even range rovers or land rovers or Cadillac escalades. Especially when its the bodyguard transport it has to be one of the most expensive luxury SUVs for the bodyguards? It can't just be an SUV or a van as see in the UK sometimes. Everything here in the states has to be top brand name luxury for our idiots. You can get a tesla for about the same price as a new Escalade or you could get a Chevy Suburban just as big or bigger then an Escalade but cheaper..... Just saying. Seriously a new Escalade is around 160k starting not even loaded while a brand new Suburban is around $60,000 not fully loaded. 1 non loaded Escalade or 3 fully loaded Suburban? And the UK complain about the few million the royal costs them. Yet the royals bring in billions of dollars attracting nosy star struck tourists while in America we get old idiots who can't talk can't walk mumble & bring the world to the brink of world war & celebrate terrorists killing women & children & mutilating the victims.

      @@EmergencyResponsesNetherlands Essentially the same rules here, only when on official duties. This is an official duty, and a high threat event - Prime Minister heading to a sitting of Parliament for a weekly scheduled event he has to be at, Prime Ministers Questions.
      The flip side is that, until 2017, Prince Philip used to travel, when not on official business (and sometimes when he was) in a green Metro Taxi. It blended in nicely, making him less of a target, and could do the tight turns that make London Taxis so useful in London streets and traffic.
      No escort, except his personal Close Protection team, when not undertaking official duties. This is the way most of the Royal Family would prefer it to be all the time (within reason) and how it was done for quite a long time. However back in 1974 there was a wakeup call, someone tried to kidnap Princess Anne on the streets of London while she was on her way back from a charity event. Three people were shot, and more could have been, if not for quick thinking and action by passers by, the princess, her then husband and her Lady in Waiting. It became clear that in those circumstances, where movements were predicatable, protection had to be improved.
      Also, as that attack illustrates, one of the side effects of leaving an inviting target is that if someone takes the opportunity presented it's not just the VIP who is at risk. People near them are as well and, in a crowded city like London, there are usually a lot of bystanders to get hurt. Protection of VIPs that deters attacks on them protects we ordinary mortals as well.

      @@EmergencyResponsesNetherlands The great Wikipedia agrees, though I notice that Wilders chap has a security detail. Understandable, I suppose. I'm pretty sure that in the past, ie sometime vaguely in the last century, British PMs just had a rather bored looking bodyguard trailing around with them. I also recall as a kid visiting 10 Downing Street and being able to walk right up to the front door. I was struck by the iron shoe scrapers. The past was dirtier but safer - at least for gentlemen.

      Absolute rubbish.
      The SEG was formed in the 50,s for escorting royals.
      Politicians used them long before tony

    • @seanmcconkey72
      @seanmcconkey72 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're both missing the point. Blair would have every where shut off if he was going there. No other PM would have Parliament shut down the way he did. He would have people threatened with arrest for not vacating a space. Go look back at media from the time.

    • @pauldavison7105
      @pauldavison7105 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seanmcconkey72 no point was missed. Your comment insinuated this type of action was started by Blair. Which is simply wrong.
      An intelligent person doesn't believe everything in the media.
      He governed in a time of severe global unrest and war. 9/11 and 7/7 created a security risk far beyond that experienced before. So understandable if his security was a bit tight whilst he was in office.
      When realistically on global standards this is a very small motorcade and Blair didn't change anything with regards to that.
      Before Blair the viable risks where from the IRA and the like.
      So put simply your comment was rubbish.
