    I’ve been interested in this game ever since watching heavy cardboard play it. I love this channel and get super excited every time your videos show up on my feed. Thanks!

      Thanks for the kind words! Intrige is sort of a cult-classic, but I feel like it hasn't reached the mainstream yet. So I'm just trying to do my part to spread the word! I find it to be such a funny game.

    I love Intrigue! In my experience, the player count and how long the negotiation goes both drive the game time. I’ve played a three-player game in about 40 minutes, and one five-player took more than 1.5 hours.
    I have the Mayfair edition and really prefer the version you showed!
    I’ve been interested in getting some thematic wood pawns or figurines of some kind to add to the flavor of the family members.

      Thanks for the comment! Yes, I can see how the game length could vary wildly depending on the players. Our group is typically pretty quick with negotiation games, but I know for a fact if I played this with certain friends of mine, it could last 3 hours 😂😂😂 I would LOVE to see a reprint of this with wooden bits. I was thinking Tigris & Euphrates wooden discs would be awesome! But I love your idea too: unique wooden bits for each family member would look awesome on the table!! Thanks for watching!! ✌️

    Intrigue is probably my favorite negotiation game! 2 reasons... As you mentioned the playtime is fairly short so even if you have some wildcard players that struggle with how much to bribe or make bad decisions it just adds to the chaos and fun. 2nd Your money or score is for the most part hidden unless you have a perfect memory. This makes the final reveal of cash and winner a surprise most of the time. These factors have moved Intrigue past my previous favorite negotiation game Lifeboats.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s awesome! Great comment! If it were entirely up to me, I would say Intrigue is my favorite negotiation game too. Lifeboats is really good too, and I keep that one in my collection for the right groups. Still, I tend to favor Chinatown because I’ve had way more success getting other players to like it. It’s much nicer & less backstabby. So even though I would personally choose Intrigue all day, I get to play Chinatown way more often & people don’t hate me afterward 😂😂.
      I’m glad you mentioned that about the hidden money. See, I also like playing Intrigue with hidden money! I think it absolutely makes sense to keep it hidden. There are some debates about that on BGG. I feel like if everyone sees your score, that encourages players to gang up on the leader. Like you said, someone could possibly track the moneys if they had a crazy good memory, but I wouldn’t want to play Intrigue with someone like that 😂😂. Thanks for the comment as always! ✌️

    Great video, thank you. Talking of mean games, I suggest you to take a look to the forgotten Tempest series from AEG (Courtier, Mercante and Dominare), except for Love Letter which is quite famous

      Excellent series of games. Courtier is probably my favorite from this series. There's a trick taking entry into this series I think with an art theme, but I can't remember the title. That one I have wanted to try.

      Thanks for the comment as always! Yes, the old German games are truly the best! Personally I love them because they are the origin of the modern euro. I also tend to love the artwork & aesthetics of the old German games the most. They just have such a classic & timeless look. These games are art!!!

      Excellent game! Chinatown is awesome! I tend to say Chinatown is my favorite too because I’ve had great success introducing that to new players. It’s definitely my most played negotiation game. I want to say Intrigue is my favorite, but it’s just a bit too mean for some people so it doesn’t get played as much. Definitely 2 very different games, so there’s room for both in my collection! 😎

    to break a tie, the other players should vote (negotiation for votes would be ideal, but i dont think there's anything meaningful to negotiate)...the person who pissed off too many other people can lose 😮 of course, that can still easily tie, so you'll need other ways to decide too

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha I love that 😂 Thanks for the comment! The more I think about my idea of “fewest family members on the island,” I fear it could determine too many important decisions late in the game. That’s the tricky thing with player-driven games like this. It’s probably why Dorra did not include a tie breaker.

      The joint winners should have to bribe everyone else before the vote. Using real money 💰
