When to cash the pension. Bloody anxiety. What do you think the army is playschool? The clue is in the word. The higher you get in the ranks, and you obviously will not, you would get anxious. An unexploded device in Afghan, an unhappy relative in southern Ireland because you ignored the borders. Man up you wimp and don't disgrace the real Army.

I like this guy, he's honest.
Its kinda dangerous if you don't have experience dealing with snow storms.
Its late April, here north of Montreal we had 11 inches of snow 2 weeks ago, yesterday was 82F.
Wild weather swings but we know how to deal with deep snow, mainly don't go into it.
Without snow shoes, you can get yourself dead fast.
2 years ago we had a few nights at 40F below zero, it doesn't feel cold, it feels evil.
How the deer survive is a mystery, snow 4 feet deep.
I wild camped behind my couch.

You could save a lot of work by cutting the wood in longer pieces which would still drag easily with the sled. Also you can save a lot cutting by burning the long pieces in half and then restack them on the fire as they burn in half. that's an old trick from 45 years of motorcycle camping. Like your videos.

Great video. Very honest and informative. Thank you for sharing.
I heard a story about a Boy Scout leader preparing for a winter overnight camp with the boys and their fathers. He was approached by one of the dads who commented that he had never slept in a sleeping bag before . Amazed by the remark, the scout master reassured the father. Where upon the dad again remarked with a grin. “ yea I’ve never slept in a sleeping bag. Tossed and turned in em many times though”.
Have a great day, and keep the videos coming.

Long ago (about 35-40 years ago) when I was a Scoutmaster, one of our campouts was a long winter weekend in the Blue Mountains in Washington state. I and a couple of other dads taught the kids how to build (and survive in) igloos and snowy conditions. The kids always enjoyed those campouts.... almost as much as the dads did. One time, when the weather and the snow pack were just right we built an igloo that was big enough to sleep ten or twelve kids and two or three dads. These "kids" (now grown men) are now in their early 50's and will never forget those campouts. Now, I don't even like to shovel the sidewalks.

Nice camping video. I would have done some things a bit differently. Like taking some hemp rope with me to use to haul long lengths of dead tree to the camp so as to have a lot more wood for heating and cooking. Also, dehydrated veggies as there was plenty of snow would have rehydrated the veggies for the meal. The chorizo is a great touch, plenty of fat and a good source of protein. Can't go wrong with that and especially in the winter, it cannot go bad. Dehydrated eggs along with onion and herbs and the chorizo would make an awesome breakfast too. If letting the fire go out, would keep the water bottle in bed with me. And the reason for the dehydrated veggies is that in case of getting snowbound, one can take a lot more food that way at a lot less weight. I've gone out on a lot of winter camps, my favorite as it is the quietest time to camp. And even did a winter camping honeymoon in northern arizona. not much snow, but that wind and cold was a challenge.
So, just wanted to share with you as I've done this before and wanted to share what I know. Peace.

Nice video. I tell you from experience wellies are no good. Okay when you're walking far but p.d.cold otherwise. The best I found for snow are cotton traders "muck boots" I think they're called. Brilliant traction too. I never got cold feet in them. + so comfortable even for long walks. That and 2 pars of 3-tog socks =toasty feet. Those boots are liable to crack on the upper after a little while. No worries! I welded mine with a bit of melted flexible plastic sheeting. So far the weld is holding great, even through all the snow. If bthey crack again sometime I'll weld them again.

Hi, thanks for watching the vid :) I would get something like that but snow here is quite rare so they just wouldn't get used :(

@Sang Man muck boots is a brand of boots, not the same thing as mukluks which is a type of winter boot.

Wellington boots, or rubber boots, are widely used in Sweden, Finland and elsewhere in the winter. Regular summer or 3 season, and 'summer fit', wellington boots will not be very good in the cold though. There are special winter wellington boots with liners and insoles. If it is not exetremely cold you could also simply use regular wellington boots of a bigger size than normal and use thicker winter insoles and thicker wool socks. The concept of winter wellington boots is functional but I recommend models with liners and insoles that can be removed and dried separetely, rather than models with fixed lining which are difficult (or impossible) to dry out under field conditions.

Excellent video ,delicious food, good set up ,looks like your shelter is strong enough to withstand the beast from the east better than mine I've spent the last 2days rebuilding mine (lol) just to mention about snow being a good insulator I did a winter survival course in the cairngorm where I had to dig a snow cave it's surprising how warm you are when inside ,really enjoyable video andy thanks for sharing ♠

just a heads up with the holes in the walls it's not just the moss dropping out it's the wood shrinking as it dries out.
