I haven't read it myself yet, but there is a book called Inquisitor's Tale by Adam Gidwitz that is supposed to be very similar to Canterbury Tales, but for a younger audience. She might like that one better. Also, I have 4 boys (ages 17, 15, 12, and 10) and none of them really LOVE reading. I have found, though, that if I pick the book, they automatically don't like it, but if they pick it, they are more likely to enjoy it. I usually set out several pre-chosen selections and let them pick from those. Some of the ones they have enjoyed around Jack's age are the Scythe series, Great Battles for Boys, Hunger Games series, Unbroken (they did the young reader's edition), The Giver. The Classics have always flopped with them, unfortunately. :(
Thank you for the suggestions! Yes, that is exactly how it is with Jack. I try to let him pick books, and he does when he is able, we had a bit more of a challenge over the past several months because of our blasted inter-library loan issues. I think I will see if he can try that Scythe series. I've not read it, but a couple of other people have recommended it to me. He loved hunger games, the maze runner series, the giver, so I am hoping some of the dystopian lit we are doing this year will be a hit 🤞🏻
@@Townsendhouse1 I may have to try the Maze Runner series for mine! I'm also thinking about seeing if they like The Martian/ Project Hail Mary. Maybe Ender's Game too....
