given the fact he had worldedit access i think one of his friends went "why not make a big pit" so he flew out a few thousand blocks and used world edit.
my theory is she cheated on him and he made a 1000x1000 block hole to describe her hole (calling her a whore), hence the name, kali's gape :)

I get the feeling this was a more sentimental construction to Tristan. The statue of Kalli, the sign saying "I miss you Kali," and the simplicity of it being a lone spire in (visually) endless void, makes me feel like there was a deep connection between the two, and Kali may have died. Hence, Kalli's Gape would serve as a place for Tristan to grieve. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it. :P

Think if it like this: irl, scientists know all the boarders of our oceans and where they meet land, but we only have 10% of the ocean actually mapped. Just found your channel and been binging your vids and loving them. I don't play minecraft much anymore and when I do it's not on any kind of anarchy server but these vids are so fascinating. It's interesting to see the history of a place with no rules and see what kind of crazy stuff happens.

Can confirm I died of alcohol poisoning
I thought it would be a perimeter. If you remove the 4 first layers of bedrock, you would end up with the Y=1 layer which is flat bedrock. Technical minecraft servers make these to put farms at the lowest point possible in order to increase mob spawning rates for more loots. Obviously, technical players wouldnt go on 2b2t to make farms though.
The quarts island in the middle just makes me think of that one anime character that's in every anime where they were the most powersull person for a long time before the protagonist and right before the first arc of the anime they retire to a hidden island far from all forms of life. Lol

its definitely possible, just takes forever. a 1000 block long world eater, and then removing bedrock with headless pistons. scicraft even made giant flying machines that automaticle remove bedrock, crazy stuff
Reminds me of that pit from Dying Light. In reality you only see people digging this kind of hole as a foundation for some huge architecture, which is pretty cool thinking about it
