I was there in friday but not on sunday when they played this. It makes me so sad, because this is one of my favorites. They did play many good songs on friday, but I wish I could've been there to watch them perform this song. But it was only my first metallica gig ever, and it's my own fault that I didn't get tickets for both days :]. Thanks Metallica!
@@cainjake7940 it's used in every kill em all song, most ride the lightning songs, a few master of puppets songs, most or all load songs, and most or all reload songs. if my math is correct, that's around 40 percent of metallica songs that use it
The lyrics of the song, written by Hetfield, address his mother's battle with cancer, to which the "it" in the title refers. They can be seen as either describing the emotional pain he feels for the loss, or the physical pain his mother was feeling while she was ill.
Was James sick on the second night? I saw a short where he was constantly sitting down between songs and blowing his nose. Then his guitar tech made a gesture that suggested “phew he’s done it”! Really hope not! I’m flying out to Copenhagen to watch them this weekend. Hopefully they are healthy!!
It’s fully possible that James was getting sick, cause on Friday Kirk had told his guitar tech ”I feel really sick” and also he blew his nose many times. But it didn’t affect their playing one bit. Great shows both Friday and Sunday!

Also it’s more of a rock song this one and a good one at that, the older I get the more I appreciate and understand the music

The live performance does the song so much more justice since Trujillo's bass is rich and deep
It gave me really impactful melancholic but warm feelings
@@HankTheOverseer Rob is a great player
I also would like to hear it live it s also one of my favorite tracks
Epic!
please keep the freaking ride lars
It sounds so good, I love when he uses it, it’s always sparse but adds so much to a song
It’s make him sound A LOT less sloppy
Why it’s not needed for 95% of Metallica songs

He seemed healthy to me, i didn't see any sign of him being sick, at least not from the performance.
@@synthernia5587 thanks man! Glad you had a good time. Good to hear it wasn’t noticeable! Perhaps it’s just his routine during the gig?
Thanks!
