Latvia team has had two 1/4 finals in Eurobasket and now in World Cup, losing both in epic and close fight to the next champions (first Slovenia, now Germany). As for a Latvian, it really hurts. Both in that Eurobasket and in this WC it somehow felt that if we won any of these quarter finals, we would lift the trophy. This generation of players is just cosmic for Latvia, unfortunately, without any medals so far.

Bertans is deadly when he shoots coming from a pass even in NBA hes a spot up shooter unfortunately in that last seconds he need to dribbles quickly and shoot.

maybe he thought in OT they had less chances and wanted to sink the game winner, also you are not sure how much time you really have at the end of the game and the least thing you want to do is to get off your shot too late. it is always easy to say from hindsight the other option would have been better. if he sinks the shot, nobody would question his choice.
This was the real final actually, lol. Latvia didn't lose a single game after this one and was one shot away from beating the 2023 World Cup Winners. Congrats Germany! 🥳

Latvia plays with limited amount of players due to not only injuries but also skill level for some is not as high, they were crazy tired as is, I am not sure if in OT they could win. In any case you saw after the missed shot there was still the opportunity to get the rebound, could have played it differently but it is last seconds and emotional game
