I think a'rou may have felt ashamed once she got into the cold palace that she allowed someone to maniupalte her into thinking the emperor wanted her as his woman. She already thought of it and the other concubines maniuplated her to thinking so. It wasnt until the end when the emperor told her she had no use for her except ruyi's innocence. She then realized she was a pawn to get rid of ruyi but she lost herself along the way. Idk but i hope the books gets translated some day bc i would most definitely read them

Im not sure either but i think she may feel regret abit once shes been sent to the cold palace. My guess is the reason she suicide it's because she realized that ruyi just wanted her to have a good happy ordinary life which u can't get in the palace. Since she hates ruyi more than anything, even sacrificed her entire family generations to die cause she didn't confess, So she rather suicide than feeling remorse. I guess she did feels regret in the end. Its just my opinion tho
I don’t think she regretted her betrayal I think she regretted her whole life the moment she realized the emperor was just keeping her alive till he could prove Ruyi innocent.. until that moment she thought she could “plead her case him back” but realizing she was just a pawn in his mind game over the harem life just lost meaning to her
