I build most of the best from mygarageinc.... Finding the combination that works for you is key.. Changing grips often make a club play totally different. Keep these videos coming.
How did I miss this??I have forever been a pre-owned/used club fan as long as I have been playing. The savings on every kind of club type is just incredible.I apply that money to greens fees, balls and tees. Most of my gear is old.Taylormade SLDR,Bertha mini 1.5,Jetspeed fairways,2006 Hogan ApexEdge irons, Ping wedges and a very old Odyssey 2 ball putter. All of them are wiped after every on course shot, and when I get home, they get a meticulous soap and water wipe. They look pristine after many rounds and the grooves are in great shape. Ive tested newer stuff against it but I don't hit it any better or longer, and I just love the look and feel of what I have put together. That matters big time for confidence.Keep up the great vids!
Really nice discussion. It’s always a difficult subject, as you identified, so well done for giving good sensible advice. Golf could be compared to cycling. The modern bicycles from the asian factories are all the same but come with different price tags depending on the badge stuck on the frame. So much so that these factories are called “badging factories” within cycling circles. I take great pleasure in racing my £500 steel bike against the £5000 carbon machines. Similarly I enjoy trying to maintain a scratch handicap using golf clubs from the 80s and 90s. Regarding your brother and his driver, I would recommend all golfers to start with a 43” or 43 1/2” driver (depending upon your height) and once mastered, only then start to increase the length in 1/4” increments. It’s really silly to put a 45” driver (used by the best pros on the planet) into the hands of a weekend golfer who doesn’t practice. Enjoying your videos as always 👍⛳️
Many thanks Craig and delighted you enjoyed the video. Interesting the comparison to cycling also and you seeing the same sort of thing there equipment wise. As for my brother I think I'll just leave him to it. Gives me a better chance to win the next family meeting if I do 😂
I'm about a 10 and have a backup set of Ping i59 which is a high tech blade. I play them just fine because they are paired with high launching, high spinning graphite shafts. My gamer irons are 2006 Miura MC-102 which are better than every game improvement cavity back iron I've ever owned. I think the biggest problem with beginners and average golfers is that the swing weights are too light given how much effort they swing. So give golfers higher swing weights and bigger grips and let them rip it.
Great video ! I’ve turned my attention to last years models and some DTC brands ( Takomo, Sub 70. New Level etc. ) as well as the revived Wilson Dyna Power, and Yonex.
@@GolfingFocus Honestly… I’m a lefty and well I recently bought a set of Wilson D11 ( 10 years old ) with uniflex shafts off of eBay for $85 just for the fun of it. I put them up against my 5 year old $800 Callaway XR’s with KBS. Tour S flex and not only do the Wilson feel better but they are easily hit at the same yardage and more enjoyable to swing !
@@CamMacMastermusic Funny how that works..and although not a lefty,I feel bad about your lack of gear choices. You guys get ripped off as far as I'm concerned..
I changed my driver and irons for a fitted series more adapted to my level and strength. I must admit that it was more confortable and pleasant to use. Then I spend 10 hours with a good teacher and my score dropped from 95 / 105 to 85 / 90. Period.
Agreed 100% on buying , I just bought a hybrid , just just good, getting skills honed and good clubs come later

Many thanks Marybeth and love the sound of those Hogan ApexEdge irons. A true classic if ever there was one!!

Delighted you enjoyed the video! Will be interested to hear how you get on with these clubs over the upcoming season. Hope they all go well!

@@CamMacMastermusic That's awesome. Will be fascinated also to see how the lofts compare too with that time gap.

Awesome. Hope the scores keep coming down!
expensive clubs makes a HUGE difference believe me. I buy the latest and greatest every year.
Sounds like confirmation bias to me lol

Thanks for the feedback Chris. Been thinking about this recently and think you are definitely right it's about time now. 👍
