These people aren't actually charging the battery off of the bicycle trainer or the rowing machine. The smart trainer they're using (Elite Tuo) doesn't support power generation, but does have a power meter that will read out the mechanical output of a rider. The cable they have coming off of the power bank looks like it's a pigtail cable meant to allow a DC power supply to charge the device, however, even that isn't hooked up correctly as each source needs a second wire for each return path.
If you look at the imput wattage of the battery, it stays way too constant over a long period of time. A variation if 2 watts over 30 minutes? Yea right.
