    England messed it up this afternoon. They looked tired and let Australia off the hook. Wood’s extra pace and ability to reverse was sorely missed.

      England getting tired by the end of the day actually shows one of the biggest shortcomings in bazball. For starters they run harder when they bat and the second thing is they finish their innings way too early and the opposition doesn't get tired at all compared to fielding in a normal paced innings. Where you have to keep poking and poking for wickets.

    Warner's Achilles heal is his driving outside off. No one says anything when the ball screams to the fence. He plays the exact same shot when caught in slips, bowled or playing on.
    Suggested remedy: maybe move the feet to have the bat play much closer to the body.
    Just saying.

    I don't like Broad, but in the heat of the moment when you're bowling a front foot no bowl one in a hundred bowls, your front foot isn't exactly at the front of mind. It only gets noticed nowadays because of the electronic detector. So, lay off the quicks. No bowls happen once in a while

    Anderson and Robinson looked like medium pace pie chuckers today.
    They are orchids. Need perfect conditions to thrive.
    Picking Bairstow instead of Foakes a massive mistake. Always pick the best gloveman in your country. Any runs Bairstow made were erased, and more.

    • @realMaverickBuckley
      @realMaverickBuckley ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Andersons pressure is often overlooked. He went for 1.84 an over and had it talking. But ends up with nothing.
      I couldn't agree mire about Foakes, Australia are gifted Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon, Head,Smith etc.. so they play them.
      England is gifted the best keeper in the world but they don't play him because despite averaging 35 his strike rate is low. So they'll do exactly what they did with Butler, they'll give up 500-800 runs per series in exchange for 100-200 runs more than Foakes would've made.

    The only way you kill bazball is batting long and tire or injure the English bowlers. Tire Anderson and broad. Eng would want to drop one of them and ego will.flare in England. Then it's either bazball or the bowlers who are the actual threat. Only one is coming out of ashes

    Reality is simple, Stokes asked for flat, he got what he asked for, the entire theory here is simple, England have swing bowlers, you do not need a pitch that creates movement when you swing the ball in the air, the Aussies generally are seam bowlers they move the ball off the pitch, so making a pitch dead flat was all about taking away the strength from Australia and relying on swing from Anderson and Broad to get wickets, that is pretty clear to anyone who knows cricket and is not bias, the next problem was Australia went defensive, we can argue they still got wickets and 400 is not a big score on a flat pitch, but they allowed the English batsman to get in, their first 15 to 20 runs were easy to get. England set much better fields and Australia found it harder to rotate strike, Stokes was on the money with his field. Warner is pretty much done, we all know it, if he survives this series without being dropped ill be shocked, Laba might be ranked 1 but he has not done a lot lately, I do not read much into Broads talk about working on a delivery, these guys work on everything, he has not all of a sudden found a delivery, he bowled a pie and Laba played at what he should have left, its pretty simple, I remember Warney used to talk up new deliveries just to come out and bowl the same stuff but people fell for it, Smith is Smith, he is not done, he is not the Smith of 2015 to 2019, but I suspect you have not seen the last of him, he will find a way to annoy the crap out of England yet, Head is the up and coming gun, I picked him to get the most Aussie runs this series, sit back and watch, if he gets in he tends to hurt you, Usman prefers fast pitches, the talk he likes it slow is a myth, he adapts to the surface and he has been the no1 run scorer for Australia for 2 years now. Australia did not bowl well, they bowled a lot of pies and made it easy for England, everyone talks bazball this bazball that, be serious, if you look at the deliveries the English dispatched to the fence they were mostly pies and got what they deserved. England are still likely to win this one, the guy that might change that is Lyon.

      This is a perfect summary
      Warner probably shouldn't have been in the team and outside that 300 he made earlier this yr hasn't done much
      For his sake I hope I'm wrong but definitely the weakest spot in the batting line up
      Australia's bowling and fielding in the first innings was arguably the worst I've seen in the last few yrs

    • @realMaverickBuckley
      @realMaverickBuckley ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with everything, except that A, if all chances were taken, Australia are 220 - 6 or 7. B - Stokes didn't ask for a flat one, he asked for a pitch that wasn't a 120 all out (unless Root or Smith do well) pitch for the opening game, then we had 37 days of no rain(36 more than usual) and 30° weather for 10 days.
      Either way it's currently a much closer game than I'd have thought. Australia's top order are the top 3 in world cricket. They've got 3 of the top 5 bowlers. Monster team.
      If Mitch Starc was English he'd be an every gamer. There are only 3 players from the England team that I think most people would swap into the Aussie team.

    • @kentwalker1969
      @kentwalker1969 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@realMaverickBuckley which 3? I tend to think these days to win away you need to be dominant. Australia I think would win v England at home but they are not dominant and not playing their best so they won’t win this series. Warner is a problem they don’t want to admit. Starc should have played.

      @@FinalWordCricket true - but that’s your lot with a number 10 unfortunately.
      Imho, the quintessential #11 is McGrath - who for all intents and purposes couldn’t hold a bat most of the time. A 10 is someone who once every 12 innings can make a fun 25 or spend a dogged hour at the crease for a gentlemen’s 7 off 43. An 8 has the capacity for an all action century and a 9 has the ability to forge a 100 partnership with the keeper and has an average approaching 20.
