In the deaf community celebration, I met HEARD members and volunteers then I had discussed with them . And then I honestly told HEARD that I really acknowledged that our America still has violated the human rights in International Human Rights Community. Our American judicial system is systemic and oppressive against the deaf citizens and disabled citizens including the people of colors and other monitories across our nation in a fact. A lot of the normal hearing people in public don't understand about deafness, ASL rights, deaf culture, deaf world, and ADA(Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990) protecting rights of the deaf citizens.

at 5:14 the defense atty begins to have a conversation the police where the interpreter does not share what is being said. What was said? Even after he looks up the person acting as the interpreter does not convey what was said? Why? It demonstrates that she was not neutral if she was willing to withhold information from the client. The clip conveys the feeling that his defense atty is collaborating with the police toward the same goal. Why was this atty allowing his client to talk with the police at all at this point? Why was the atty allowing the police to act as his interpreter for the entire process? This is ineffective counsel in my opinion. I don't know the facts of the case, but on the surface, this appears awful. Everyone deserves a strong defense. The worst thing this defendant did was talk and write. He should have remained silent and it doesn't appear that his atty was helping him remain silent. Plus, the police interpreter could have contributed to his not remaining silent. This is just a bad situation. Heard is doing good work if they are advising all people to remain silent even if they are innocent. Always remain silent even if you are innocent.

Hey Yvonne James was my cousin and it’s crazy to me that you guys are trying to use his disability as a reason of saying he didn’t kill her I was in court I seen the evidence and who would sit in a room for 90 mins with a dead body ! They have video of him going in and out the room with evidence they have him when he first arrived with the murder weapon. He should never be released from jail ever in his life for what he did to her . He is a monster and she didn’t deserve that .

Police station, they needs to hire a professional interpreter. I think shes misunderstand or took disadvantages of communication. I agreed with Daily Moth. It's against the law every states that needs to fix. They cannot hire a unprofessional to communication with disabled. Interpreter could misunderstanding and police thinks it's all the truth that they dont know sign language. So sad!

I’m sorry to heard about them. In Louisiana state prison has one deaf life prison arrested was I think around 1973 during there no ADA law. He got life prison and he still there at Louisiana state prison. He still trying to get out of jail but still no luck. His name is William Johanson. I have see many deaf ppl went to court has issue problems. I see many many ignore ADA law and ignore deaf right. Or ignore deaf need. I see this video make me really sick in that interview room. I blame that unprofessional interpreter. And police question is not professional. They right to have lawsuit to unprofessional interpreter and unprofessional police question. Smh.

Any newspaper article about the trial that can be retrieved on the Internet?
Any expert witness(es) that can assess and testify how awful the interpreter was based on the videotape. Juror will use the "testimony" as transcripted what the interpreter said during the interrogation, which should not be admitted as evidence. I assume, a team of legal certified or more capable interpreter, including a CDI, was used at the trial and subsequent appeal hearings. I also hope, everything was videotaped.
Based on the tape, I would recommend strongly that a CDI to be used in all legal transactions for Ricardo. I have served as an expert witness to testify as to the "interpreter's" command of sign language and as to communication functioning of the deaf person involved as witness and defendant as ordered by the court or requested by the legal representative of the deaf defendant. Once I determined one's communication ability and his ability to grasp intricate knowledge of law and civil rights to be "low", I recommended communication training to enable him to participate fully in the trial and assist the lawyer in his defense. I also did assess adequacy and accuracy of interpretation of his signing by comparing what he signed on the tape, which was used to justify an appeal.
Also how his defense attorney behaved should be assessed by the Bar Association. I detect a few things on the tape, I think, that are how the attorney was acting in violation to the Bar association's code of ethics. Ricardo and his partner Krystal can sue him in a civil suit for damages, loss of income etc., once he is out of jail.

In my opinion, the appellate judge(s) need to be convinced that the his written confession and "testimony" during the interrogation must be declared null and void, based on inaccurate and inadequate interpretations. The fact alone that the state court did not employ a legally certified ASL interpreter(s) and that evidence as obtained by them is inaccurate may not suffice to overturn the verdict. Perhaps the verdict was also based primarily on secondary corroborating evidence, which, I suspect, was the basis of the denial of appeals. Racism against black people alone does not help his case legally, although it is evident. It only helps politically.
What were the reasonings, the appellate judges gave for the denying the appeals?

Alex, that was quite a superficial coverage of the case of Ricardo Harris vs. the state of Georgia. I had to read the legal documents in the link you provided in the description of the video. It is possible that Ricardo is definitely guilty of murder. One part of the legal documents say, "...In addition to this evidence, the State also introduced prior-acts evidence through the testimony of three women with whom Harris had been intimate. They each testified that Harris had physically abused them, including by strangling and punching them and by slamming them into walls..." This could be evidence that Harris possibly in the moment of heat got angry with Yvonne James which resulted in her death.
At this juncture, only God and Harris know what happened in the room. However, the fact remains that Ricardo should not have been meeting up with someone to commit fornication.

Aaron Delgado guilty or not, everyone deserves adequate representation in trial. That interpreter shouldn’t have been there. Judgment should be placed after equal access to communication has been established throughout trial.

You seem biased yourself, ready to blame him for anything because of “fornication”? His previous abusing women is a factor, if it’s true, but you are a religious nut who can’t be trusted.
