As a Korean who served in Korean military, I'm surprised they haven't used K-2 or M16A1 for the show ( considering that those 2 models are the standard assault rifles used by Korean soldiers)

Fun fact: the mp5’s you see in the show are actually not Mp5’s. They are a civilian version known as the HK94. The difference is the barrel is long, and I mean really long. So usually in movies/Tv they cut down the barrel and use it as a mp5, Die Hard for an example. And that’s what you see here.
I would like to state that since these weapons most likely came off of the black market (unless the frontman and Gi-hun pulled off some favors, im certain the frontman had his connections). These gun prices would be quadrupled or even x10 the cost
Fact you didn't ask: H & K won't let them Sell their MP5s to anyone else since that gun is for Military Use only. Instead, they use a slightly modified HK94 to replicate a real MP5. I don't want to ruin the fun so let's call it MP5 for now.
And dosent that only apply to like movies made in the 80s or 70s? a time where airsoft guns werent widely imported and are mostly inside japan and arent used for movie scenes like today? Many of the mp5s here are most likely local korean airsoft guns, it does look like the hk94 since it has the "navy" style lower But theres also some instances where they blatantly use the SEF lower (the one thats shown in the example pic) in some scenes I dont think importing legitimate german firearms into a country with strict gun laws for a movie studio isnt exactly a plausible idea
I didnt get too good of a look, but the snipers might be msg90, which is a variant of the psg01. Its also weird how the two most common guns are from the same company, but also from a different country. Does squid game have a contract with H&K?
I don't think HK has contract with them. Squid game in Korea is just a tip of an iceberg. So buying many HK guns are not a problem foe people like them
