RS is just seen as legacy software to the parent company and for that only maintenance is prioritized its ASTONISHING how we are still receiving frequent updates on OSRS I mean look at WOW classic, it just goes as far as literally releasing the expansions and maintaining servers, thats it and how much more revenue does that generate than osrs?
You're correct that it's technically legacy software but it's their primary source of income and holds their highest number of active subscribers by a fucking mile. You can't give them that legacy excuse, their legacy software happens to also be their flagship product. There's no excuse for how slow their major updates are and how under-staffed the product teams are.
Ngl though, when you went f2p once a whole line of whales waiting to donate you GP, no one is an actual paid actor, they're literally wanting to die for content, this is the same thing for P2P, Create a video of you risk fighting some sweaty riskers and see how that works out (no flame intended)

Why don't they just close down 1/3 of the OSRS servers for Deadman Finals to maintain server bandwidth? Then reopen them right after the tournament an hour or two later
The servers run individual bandwidth on separate ip’s, even if every other server on the game was closed down the server being used would still be just as vulnerable to ddos if thats what you meant
