What do I do? Retired heavy equipment mechanic, worked west coast logging all my life (BC Logger) I know absolutely zero about farming but I really like watching farming videos. Would love to get up close and personal with a combine one day, they intrigue me.
Good to see how things are progressing where you are! What am I doing? Currently in the middle of harvesting the winter wheat here in France, we're jealous of the equipment you guys have over there! We've got a mere New Holland CR90.70 rolling with a John Deere 6R 230 and a 6R 165 each with a trailer! The 7 meter header is nothing compared to that X9 you lot have! Although it does the job for a 1200 acre farm
Thomas, Why do you (or any farmers) use grain carts to transport the grain to the truck? Wouldn't it be more cost efficient and faster to simply unload the combine directly into the truck? Or is there a reason for doing it that way? Please enlighten us!
So the combines can keep running, ur talking 40 acres in each field and combines move slow so to drive to the edge every time you get full would cost lots of time.harvesting in rain reduces yields so they gotta make sure they can beat the weather
how much bu/acre does your oats make? I have a friend in Tennessee who also grows oats, and when I visited him, his oats looked very similar to yours. However, his yield monitor wasn't working, so I couldn't determine how good they actually are....
We field cultivate before we plant to knock out some of the early weeds but we kinda of bank on the oats and clover/alfalfa choking out everything else.
You started harvesting oats last week.... mine just headed out nicely last week! I guess that's what happens when you are planting while up here there is still snow on the ground! 😄 With all the rain you had down there this spring I'm surprised it ripened as fast as it did, good to see. Thanks for the vid!
Glad you’re feeling better Thomas and thanks for sharing some of the oat harvest with us! Love to watch your vlogs.
Me to! Thanks for watching!
I like the covered, drive thru pit at the bin site 🏆 🌾
It’s nice!

Our average around 120 so far this year. Some fields way worse but some fields much much better.,
