In this video, we’re going to do a deep dive on things that will or will not break your fast. The topic of things that break a fast seems to come up a lot. I want to take some time to break down this topic and help you really understand it.
    Types of fasting:
    • Water fast - Involves not eating and only drinking water (no vitamins, coffee, etc.)
    • Dry Fast - You’re not consuming any water or eating anything.
What we’re going to cover in this video are the degrees of breaking a fast. There are a lot of things that break a fast in a very minor and temporary way. There are actually certain things that I’m going to recommend you have during your fast because it’s so minor.
We’re also going to go over insulin and more things like being bumped out of ketosis vs. being bumped out of fat burning. I’m also going to go through a list of common things people wonder if they can or can’t have while fasting like tea and vitamins.
    Fasting benefits:
    • Ketosis
    • Autophagy
    • Lowered insulin
    • Fat burning

Wrong?? keto is just another way of eating foods, you can still eat right doing non keto like some other thing like being a vegetarian or something. Unless you're talking like eating a pizza and junk food but we all knew we were eating wrong but didn't care enough if that was the case.

What’s funny is that whoever I talk to about fasting and my omad journey they say what am I doing... I’m destructing my body and it’s no way to live that way. The truth is... I love food but after one month of omad I notice that I’m not even hungry so why are we really eating? because that’s what the society tells us?

Most people starve every few hours. They have not seen how a nutrients rich diet and supplements can completely decrease hunger. So their reaction is to be expected. I only speak about this to people who are really curious and who can observe visible facts.

The reasons we eat [on the Standard American Diet] are neurological. It has way more to do with how foods/eating are marketed and the amount of hidden sugar in them. The motive for [Big Food] companies is higher profits and has nothing to do with nutrition. Dr. Berg is leading a movement of conscious intelligent eating and living that gives us our freedom through health-centered choices, rather than greed-driven habits.

Oh Dr Berg, thank you once again for addressing more fasting questions. I'm HAPPILY on 2.5 days of fasting and loving how I feel that I could easily fast for another 48 hours. There is an extraordinary difference in my energy and how my body feels when I don't eat compared to when I do eat. I drink water, green tea, lemon juice and in the morning I have 1 cup of coffee + 1 teaspoon each of MCT oil and organic coconut oil with my supplements in the morning. I literally do not feel hunger pains all day and night long which pleases me because then I know ketosis is surging through my ever shrinking body!!! Thank you so much for all that you do Eric.

When I eat my body and mind only care for nutrient dense whole foods. I haven’t made or required any Keto treats, like fat bombs. My mind is so clear and focus. And because I’m only eating once a day (5-9pm) all the extra time is a great bonus 👍 Thanks for your dedication, I won’t have reach this amazing healthy state without your guidance.

Hi Dr Berg. Been watching your stuff for over a year, and I have lost 110 pounds on Keto in a little over a year. (Down from 290 lbs). I'll be 68 years old in a few days. I'm very close to my target weight and have decided to just hang out at 180 lbs for a while. I was knocked in the dirt back in March of this year with lung disease, and have been on Oxygen and stuck at home for four months, unable to move around very much. The final diagnoses is Pulmonary Fibrosis. I was evaluated for a lung transplant, but not getting one because of other compilations. So, to stay at my current weight, I''m still eating Keto, but have increased my carb intake to between 30 and 50 carbs/day, and keeping the moderate protein and high fat numbers going. I do IF everyday, and only eat 2x a day. I have one bulletproof coffee every morning, and sometimes a cup of black coffee after. My ketone levels have been between .5 and .7. I do have a low carb beer or two everyday and sometimes a bourbon on the rocks. My weight has been steady at 180 lbs for 4 months, (except when I first got real sick back in March, I got down to 160 lbs after getting out of the hospital. The 20 lbs came back on after I got home.). So, my question is, am I on track for staying in healthy Ketosis and staying away from the SAD diet. If I decide to lose another 10 or 15 lbs, it would be a small diet change to get back into weight losing mode. (Cut carbs to

Keto saved my life and from my weight loss i found my stage 3 DCIS in my left breast. 8-8-18 was the big surgery, double mastectomy and DIEP . Im still trying to deal with the chemo side effects and a new belly and breast. But throughout the healing process i am still lazy keto and have found i eat less and it keep my bloating down. ( so uncomfortable after a tummy tuck) Your spot on with systematic changes and effects.
My caffine consumption was killing my feet with neuropathy and cutting it completely out has subsided that pain also.

Dr. Berg, I have a question:
I usually adopt the 20/4 intermittent fasting schedule, and I would like to know that if you boil green vegetables, does drinking the water used for the boil break your fast?
As far as I know, many of the nutrients from those vegetables remain in the water so I usually drink during the 4-hour feeding period. But I would still prefer to spread out drinking that water throughout the day.
Keep up the good work! I commend you on the quality of the content of your channel.

Thank you Dr. Berg for helping us to understand these things! I used to fast just about everyday and maybe even for several days. I felt fine. BUT my Drs convinced me that was not healthy. I started gaining weight. My Dr told me not to worry about it. I got up to about 245. Now it is not easy to fast, but I am trying to do it anyway. No, I no longer weigh 245.

Thank you Dr Berg! I’ve been Keto and OMAD for 6 mos. Lost 50lbs (including the COVID 20 I gained!). I’m 42 hrs into my first ever long fast and feel great! Now, should I, tomorrow morning/afternoon eat a hard boiled egg to break my fast?

Day 3 of OMAD for me. I started at 115 lbs I’m down to 112, though I’m sure most of it is water weight. However, I’m not doing this for the number to go down; I want to be a healthier person and be more in control of what I eat and when.
My stomach bloating has gone down (no noticable fat loss yet though, of course) and I feel SO energetic!!! Thank you Dr. Eric!

13:55 what is the group of amino acids that turn into 99% body tissue? Whats the ratio? Do you have to buy a certain protein powder that has the exact ratio?

    • @davidbakino617
      @davidbakino617 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

It's called MAP (Master Amino Profile) : a perfect ratio of the 8 essential amino acids, copied on the mother milk’s ratio of protein.
According to someone on bodybuilding forums (but I can't verify if it's accurate), it contains approx 2g leucine, 1.6g valine, 1.5g isoleucine, 1,4g lysine, 1.3g phenylalanine, .7g methionine, and .4g tryptophan per 10 tabs.
The only problem is this formulation is expensive as hell! (honestly you'd rather just be eating more eggs and get your "99% absorption" this way !)

I buy MAP proteins (8EAP/Eight Amino Acids made from pea protein) for 60€ per Kilogram and fill it in capsules for easy eating. 20 gram of it is equvalent to 150 gram whey powder, but they have nearly 0 carb or calories. This amount is even sufficient for body builders during fasting days, as you will never add more than 10 grams of muscle mass per day. (and 10 grams of muscle mass contains only 2 grams of protein).
