According to Japanese media, young machine, there is a "new model" of the Yamaha YZF-R1. The content is that the suspension will be modified based on the current model, and the exterior will also be revised. Although details are unknown, it is believed that new suspension and brakes will be introduced, and winglets will be added to the exterior.
What is noteworthy is that this new model will be released as a road-legal version. The current R1 does not comply with Euro 5+ regulation, and sales of the road-legal R1 will end in Europe in 2024.
If this is the case, there are two possible directions for the "new model". One is a model change to support Euro 5+ and to continue selling in the future. Another possibility is that it will not be compatible with Euro 5+ and will be a "final edition."

Why discontinue R1 just because of backward Euro community policies? You have a whole world market with emerging distributors in India and Africa. Yamaha better wake up and produce more R1s.

How much did the Euro-5 compliance change that the R1 is no longer "compliant"? Sounds similar to the MV Aguata F4 1000 which was discontinued recently in favor of the Veloce. Was it emission standards? Materials used in manufacture?
How could such incredible designs as the R1 and F4 be considered "obsolete"?

Yamaha really should go back to its original Yellow & Black paint scheme, though the Red & White is very good looking also. The solid Blue does them no justice at all compared to the other two paint schemes they used.

Nothing is being discontinued. Suzuki is in fact on its way back into WSBK and MOTOGP. American business man and Liberty Media purchased Dorna Sports and will make it grow by leaps and bounds. Its all going to be "revived" ! The future is bright and globalism is dead.
