i was walking in a mall in temple, texas in the late 70's when this came on over the speakers in the food court. i refused to move from my spot until i found out who and what this was. bless utube for allowing what i thought was lost music to be heard again.
I had this album and wore the grooves off it. We were all musicians and this guy stopped us in our tracks. Hell this tune has REAL STRINGS! Jan brought something to the table that will influence generations to come. Glad the youngsters can listen to how dynamic he is. A master of changing volume and attack to accent the colors of the song.
Thank you for posting this. Two Detroit Stations used to play this during the day: 107.5 WGPR and 106 WJZZ which has been gone for about 14 years now (sadly). LOVE THIS!
Yes in Indeed. My Father sent me some WJZZ stickers he found somewhere in Detroit. WJZZ was a staple in my home, and family members also. #pontiacmichigan
im probably the only 15 year old to ever search this song lol. I love it!!! im from Detroit as well even tho I live in Myrtle Beach now but my dad play this kinda stuff in the car alot and I just love this vibe
HOt HOt Hot, there nuthin negative or not enuff positive to compete with this track, great, Thank Jan. this makes all the worlds problem go away when i listen to this, time stops, its a wonderful feeling
A fabulous 5 star tune. Granada TV (UK) used this as late night continuity music, which is where I first heard it in the late 70s. It is one of the finest pieces of music to drive to, particularly in the rain... I love that fact that it hits the spot with people all over the world
Very hard to find this excellent album on the streaming services. I received this album unexpectedly because I was reviewing albums for my college newspaper. A fusion album with soul...
Thanks for posting this...this is one of my all time favorites and I have been looking for this for soooo long.I love listening to this at night...especially while I'm driving.Thank you. :)
I keep coming back to this. For so many reasons, I just think this sums Jan up so totally, so beautifully. It's musically so open ended. I have to thank you for posting this & letting me experience the best of Jan.
In 1978 my music evolution made me a fan of progressive rock which led me to an appreciation of the Dutch band Focus which turned me on to band members Thijs Van Leer and Jan Akkerman's private albums including this.
I was just about to say the same thing. WJZZ played so much dope stuff it was like a crate diggers dream come true! And just like a crate digger, they never said who the damn artist was half the time. It was pure luck that i happened to have some internet radio stationon & i find this joint, sad but true.
Oh, thank you! I was starting to think maybe I had the dude's name wrong or something. I-Can't-Find-This-Anywhere! And every time I search Jan Akkerman I get a style so completely different I can't believe it's the same guy. THIS is what I been tryin' to find!
My fafourite Akkerman track. I belief he had been listening to Johnny Guitar Watson, he has never played that funky before! Great stuff and a very cool. Undutch sound for that time.
Jan will never get the praise he should cause Focus were never as mainstream as other bands of the time. But he was and still is a outstanding guitar player and he allways will be remebered as such. Jan Akkerman plays top notch stuff all the time.
@BlahZayy1190 you´ll understand when you´re 20.......the music will stay in your head forever and will always remind you of a special moment. i´m only 44 but i understand the older people....but you are right, just listen, incredible good music. gr. from the Netherlands
Funny, reading thru these comments I seem to find a lot of Detroiters up in here,...welcome to my world, follow the music to your heart's...and ear's desires. If you build it....they will listen. THIS IS JAZZ MUSIC, W-J-Z-Z, I am the Jazzy 1.
If you like Jan's jazz fusion you will probably like Jeff Beck as well. Check out his albums 'Blow By Blow' and 'Wired'. Both mid-late seventies albums like this one.
Yeah, man. To HD41117 & incrediblecHiller, it was one of those rare moments in time & space where everything is absolutely perfect, and I remember having the presence of mind to recognize it then...
One of my fathers nicest joints he did, im releasin and uploadin some joints i did with him as well
greetings
walingh akkerman

This is the theme of my youth! I absolutely love this song! Thank you Rosetta Hines for making good Jazz like this available to so many!
agree 👍
Was that Rosetta Hines from WJZZ Detroit's jazz radio at 105.9FM? She was very good and had very good taste!

I loved this song as a teen back in the 2010s. I love the sound and soul in it
Joshua Grace i heard this tune on the only jazz station in Detroit, WJZZ, back in 81 and was hooked. Jan Ackerman is from Sweden.

God, does this bring back memories. I practically worshiped Akkerman and Focus back then.
The best dutch album ever produced , timeless !
Very hard to find this excellent album on the streaming services. I received this album unexpectedly because I was reviewing albums for my college newspaper. A fusion album with soul...
I remember this album as one of my favorite sounds to take me to a place of serenity when as a young man going through a very aweful 1st marriage.
Still the best mix of this toon. As Puma says...no boundries. This music is timeless. Thanks Jan
