From my perspective, shipping characters is just like connecting some legos; like- matching their traits and personalities, then wondering how individuals with personalities/situation like them would interact with one another. It's similar to reading a book. There are TONS of "childhood friend" type stories, but authors can find ways to make various scenarios using different elements to twist the story. Same with the typical "rivals/enemies to lovers" or "bonding through a journey" type of stories. These are just elements that could be played with to brew up some potential scenarios. In this case, with kaeya and childe, they are two mischievous/sly individuals with opposite associations. Since we haven't seen them interact in the story, understanding their personalities makes it possible to make a very rough speculation on how they may interact; just like legos, it's fun to create random creations based on the pieces of info we get. Idk how others could make a scenario where the two could be a thing, I also personally don't see this happening, but some other creative individuals might be able to create interesting scenarios out of it. I'm sorry for the REALLY long reply... hopefully that made any sense tho... TLDR; Shipping irl ppl is bad, however, shipping fictional characters is alright since they are just legos of information. PS: Ngl some ppl ship simply for the visuals, so I can understand why shipping may be disliked by others, but I believe that being able to create interesting scenarios is much more important than that :/ these are just my personal thoughts on the subject tho.
