    Note on Clean Save: Be sure to uncheck ALL add-on packs as well. Anything that requires Sim Settlements will force it to be loaded even if you unchecked it.

      did you see the save i sent a few days ago where the the sanctuary city planners desk thought it was connected to Jamaican plains ?

      Not sure if a bug or engine problem, but with certain settlements I have appointed the leaders and it says they are there and running the settlement but they cannot be found anywhere in the settlement manually, this was mainly with tenpines bluff, but since hitting lvl 2 in sanctuary Preston has also dissapeared from there. In case its variable I had Valentine running tenpines bluff.

      Could you possibly make the scrap option that you added in also remove the wall banging markers in sanctuary around the workshop house? I ask because in the current city plan NPCs will try walking through walls (depending on the plots in the way) trying to get to them.

      @cerberus189 I thought I responded to that one, but maybe it was someone else. If you scrap that City Planner's Desk and create a new one, it will most likely connect to the correct settlement. I'm uncertain why this is happening for some people though.

    All bugs aside, im still blown away by how stable sim settlements and rise of the commonwealth are. Ive been playing with them on a new character and i havent had any issues. It is truely one of the best mods ever if not the best. Great job from you and your team, keep up the amazing work.

      Yeah, I haven't had any of these issues either, no crashes, nothing - and I'm playing in VR, which isn't supported. Sim Settlements has always been very well made.

    I quit fallout 4 because of creation club, I came back because of Rise of the Commonwealth. Thanks for all the work you're doing.

      Sim Settlements allows me to build up settlements well, something that Fallout 4 had but didn't have good.

      Tinywars I quit when creation club first launched, causing the script extender to no longer work properly which made most of my mods not work. No problem for people on console, but on pc the creation club messed it up twice so I uninstalled the game.

    I love sim settlements. Im glad i got it on the pc instead of my xbox. Only thing about rise of the common wealth is using my companions as leaders. I wont stop using it even if there is no way to fix this. You and your team are just awesome. thank you for these and look forward to more.

    I don't know if you would call this a bug, but in the cinematic mode, sometimes my companion will spawn at the flying camera and fall to his death 3 or 4 times. Please, don't fix this, its hilarious lol

      It's probably the companion's "catch-up" feature - they think they've gotten too far away from you so they teleport to you. I've seen that happen to Heather once.

      It is exactly this "catch-up", if you use mod like Better Companions or I would imagine the popular Amazing Fllower Tweaks has same feature, they don't die from falling.

    I thought this was a patch to put in LITERAL exterminators in the mod (i.e settlers that kill radroaches, bloatflies, etc.)

      kingj411 - that would be funny.
      Maybe a separate mod that added a "number" to the pipboy for an exterminator that does house calls. Walk into a roach infested instance, dial the number and sit back and enjoy the fun.

    Thank you for the manual install tip. I haven't encountered any issues thus far but I like to be prepared. For your next update I'll do just as the link suggests. Not to mention it looks easy, simple and straightforward.

    on the issue of fast travel to settlements that are managed via rotc and ctd. i had that, could not even walk to them without ctd. so i looked around and grabbed fallrimtools picked a saved game and ran fallrim on it.... problem solved. i can fast travel to managed settlements, walk to them and fast travel between them with no problem.
    i know this is not a great help in debugging the problem but i think it indicates that script scraps could be an issue.
    anyway.... thanks for a great mod and all your efforts to keep us users informed.

    Sim Settlements and all the Expacs are literally the best Mods I've ever used in a Bethesda Game and I've been Modding Bethesda games since Morrowind. You guys should be extremely proud of your Work, it is simply amazing.

    Now here is an idea, and I know you get thousands, but have you thought of a Sims Defense mod? Plots include actual guard towers, maybe with built in turrets. Patrol routes could be established rather than just stationary posts, the range and distance could be used with the same devices that are used for construction plots, and let the tracking AI guide the NPC's back and forth between them. In any regard I am thoroughly amazed with your mods, keep up the good work!

    Does anyone else get floating flags and what seems like partially missing structures at Red Rocket when you use the RotC city plan?

      That's something we'll be addressing soon - we have to dig through a lot of the city builds and find weird floating objects that were somehow included in our exports.

      Yep, and some misc floating power insulators at Sanctuary for me as well .. they are at city level 0 so i ignored them.

    The settlement crashes should be easily achievable by sending ALL possible companions to the same settlement (I did this with Hangman's Alley). I believe that the competing companion quests completely plugged up the script system, which was already on reduced resources due to the incredibly filled world space cells in the city. I had all of them at Hangman's Alley and I had to slowly walk backwards towards the settlement so that I could reassign the companions to other settlements, which fixed the game crashing whenever Hangman's Alley was trying to load.

    I'm a bit upset I only just found this mod. I just reinstalled FO last night and was surprised to find my original save still works fine with all mods installed. I'm looking forward to trying this beast of a mod out, it looks fantastic and such care after what.. 10 months or so? amazing.

      honestly ive got like 5 settlements going at one time right now...and im not sure that my pc could handle much more, i understand now why he limited the # of leaders to begin with. I am sure when he has bugs squashed and more optimization is made

    Hi, i love your mod! I just wanted to give a suggestion to make it even more awesome. Wouldn't it be cool if the player could designate certain cities to food production, factories or shops? Anyways, love your mod and keep up the great work

      That sounds like something to be handled in the design of a city blueprint, in the same vein as people designing and uploading new variants of agricultural or commercial plots. Completely viable, so long as someone is willing to put in the time to do it.

    Just wanted to let you guys know your awesome and thank you for all your hard work. I absolutely love this mod and everything you guys are doing to make it even better your making new fallout play throughs fun again.
    P.s will the odd settlements ever be on deck for a build such as concord, vault 88 and spectacle island?

      Hope to do a build for all of the Bethesda settlements. Once the kit is released, anyone could do builds for any settlements - even mod added ones.

    I encountered a bug where the furniture menu disappeared from the workshop mode. I used the menu repair mod function you adviced on your wiki page, and that restored the furniture menu, but it removed the Sim Settlements menu! XS

      Ha - that was me. I picked it up with Place Everywhere and moved it out of the way to make sure I could scrap the boards that were blocking the lower levels.

    I play on PC and the first city I tried to use the city build was sanctuary. something didn't work right and it been stuck the same way. very happy now there away to revert back with the gavel. I really like some of the new features in rise of the common wealth. a didn't want to mess with my other settlement.

    9:00 my game would hiccup and just crash without recuperating, and on fast travel the only settlements it crashes with (at least from my experience) are the bigger ones like sanctuary, the co-op, the drive in, etc. Also, with regards to the settlement leader ability, is there a way to fire one of your companions without needing to find a replacement? Another problem that branches from this is when u tell them to go to some other settlement, they stay put.

      You can either recruit them with dialogue, or go to the desk plan and use the Take Back City option.

    Something just came to my mind while getting the most recent companion to join my roster (MacCready). Since there aren't THAT many companions available and I have assigned most of them to lead different settlements (the locations I like the most). What does that mean for the settlements that evolve by themselves (for example Greentop Nursery) without an assigned leader? Will the pre-designed city plans still play their part even without one of my companions supervising the settlement?

    Need help. I can't remember the mod name that puts Sim Settlements into it own category rather than having it in the special category. I know it's mentioned in a video, but I'm having trouble finding the video that mentions the mod.

    City planner desk:
    I can't get Codsworth to stay assigned to it. He gets assigned for a short time and then is not (red "need assignment" reverts to both Codsworth and the desk) although when I assigned him to a different settlement's desk it said he was already assigned to the previous one would I like to change it?
    Bottom line I think he was actually assigned but in workshop mode it made it look like the desk and Codsworth were not assigned. Also, Codsworth says something like "i'd really like to but i'm afraid i can't" when I assign him to a desk.
    Still not clear on what the city management desk does and doesn't do. I'd really like to be able to choose a city plan and just let it happen as more settlers join up. Laying down plots is an awkward mystery to me I can never get them to snap together the way I wanted and it becomes a mess. What do those little triangle protrusions indicate on one side of the plots?
    Are any city plans available yet?

    Red rocket, sunshine co-op, boathouse, all saying "no city plan", i un-installed RoTC, saved then re-installed and still said no city plans. I'm out of ideas to try

      Ok, we need to eliminate some variables. I'd also recommend requesting support on simsettlements.com, I don't get notifications for every TH-cam comment, so it's unlikely I'll see any further responses.
      Step 1 - try with your other mods disabled to see if it's possibly a mod conflict.
      Step 2 - try on a different character to see if it's your save file.
      Step 3 - try on a fresh character.
      Step 4 - try on a fresh character with only Sim Settlements and the expansions enabled.

    I tried the automatic city building in Sanctuary. The city looks somewhat okay, but some elements are floating, glitching through one another and just very clearly placed in the wrong place. Not to mention, some of them just straight up look horrible and impossible, such as large structures on tiny supports.

    Has anyone else noticed their game crashes in certain areas of the map since installing sim settlements? Particularly around good neighbour and finch farm both of which are totally inaccessible to me now. I guess that’s the thing with having lots of mods sometimes they don’t play well together

    This is probably the dumbest question out there. Soryr. I'd like to know if I can use both Industrial Revolution and Rise of the commonwealth at the same time. And if so, does Sim Settlements mix/match buildings?

      You can normally just uninstall the current version -> download the new one -> install the new one.
      However, KingGath mentions right at the end that you might need to do a manual install and he added a link to the description on how to do it

    So, after this update there are now two city planners desks in my Sanctuary that are inside of each other. I tried removing one, but it will not disappear. Anything I can do to fix it?

    Is there a way for a PS4 user to send you builds and have them in the ROTC? Cause I've got tons of lore-friendly, realistic settlements that I think would work great in this mod.

    King, I'm at taffington boathouse, and I have industrial revolution, rise of the commonwealth, and base Sim settlements (all awesome mods btw) all fully up to date, all toggled active, and it says I have no city plans, any idea how to fix this please? 👍🏻😄

      Try the manual install - the only thing I can think of is that your scripts are out of date or RotC isn't checked in on the load order screen, manual install will ensure a script update.

      you can only manual install on pc.

    The fast travel bug I had a huge problem with on Xbox one, however I was able to fix it by disabling autosave on fast travel in the options menu

      Yes. Ethreon and I are both aware of the issue. Focusing on mod stability for now and then I can work out compatibility issues.

      Did you find the holotape in the museum? Once the mod is enabled, the plots and desk should be available in the Special and Crafting menus.

    I can’t go to sanctuary no more because of sim settlements they went to lvl 2 for their town and it crashes because of how much they build

    Hey king gath I was wondering if when a city is upgraded to level 3 do you have to take back the city before you can use that leader in another settlement or does that happen automatically? I have two lvl 3 cities but I can't get the leaders of those cities to build at a new settlement.

      You either have to take back the city, or talk to that NPC and take them as your companion temporarily. I'm looking into other options to simplify that in the future.

    1. Can settlers utilize the advanced industrial plots from Industrial Revolution in this expansion?

    Not sure if it's just me. But when I use this mod, im unable to complete some of the minute men quest like taking starlight drive. Or Preston won't talk to me anymore. I would provide footage but I play on console and I don't have any record on stuff.

      As of 3.0.2, if you get one of those quests - after you build the beacon and power it, save your game, then reload that save and it will complete it for you. I'm looking into a cleaner solution for the future.

    I'm using this through Fallout 4 VR. A molerat came up from the ground. I turned around and as soon as it jumped to hit my face, the game crashed. I just wonder if its cause of the 3.0.3 patch. No other mod was added. =/

      I did just find a major bug with 3.0.3 and hotfixed it, though the issue was not one that could cause crashes - it could just cause Sim Settlements to stop functioning correctly. Would recommend snagging 3.0.3b and then rolling back to the last save before you installed 3.0.3.

    Hey, i have not been able to access the city planner to make someone leader. Like, it shows you in the vid looking at the map on the table but that does nothing for me. I can even get your mod to work and it has been this way since i first downloaded it with version 3.0.2
    I would very much like to use this mod so if you know what the problem is that would be great.

    Hello, first thank you for your really Great Work. But i have a "little" problem with my Game. If i try to Build a Generator the Game Crashes back to the Desktop. I tryed a new Character but the Game crashed on the new Character too. :-(

      If it happens on a fresh character, you have a mod conflict or a mod load order issue. Try removing everything but Sim Settlements to see if the problem still occurs on your new character. If it does, you may need to reinstall the game itself. If it's fixed after that, start adding a few mods at a time and test to see if the issue remains fixed.

    I'm having an issue where I cannot find my city planner desk is there certain requirements to unlock it? I've been able to use it in a different saves on the older version of SS. Its current location is in front of the residential plots under the structures tab right?

      If you have Settlement Menu Manager installed, it will be under Furniture in the Sim Settlements menu, otherwise it will be under Crafting. Be sure you've run the holotape on your pipboy in that save to "install" the mod.

    hi! got a stupide question. Do we need to still esablish supply lines ourselves? or with this mod and a mayor, do they do it themselves? So many times have i had to move provisoniers out out settlements to get them to upgrade!

      They won't establish their own supply lines, but by default you don't need them unless you want access to their resources.

    I have found the best way to do the updates is to use the option to uninstall and delete the mod and then reinstall it from scratch.

    Hey kinggath, my game has been crashing as I load into my save. I haven't installed any recent mods when it started doing this only when I went to Sanctuary which recently turned into a level 3 settlement and started giving me major frame loss.
    I wanted to submit my save to your forums but I have well over 100 other mods installed alongside SS. Is that an issue?

      Nope, we can analyze any save file even without the same load order. Just be sure to upload the .fos file, not the .f4se file.

    I haven't had any issues yet but updating through Nexus Mod Manager... can I just uninstall all SIM Settlement mods from my current list and download + install the new versions? Will that have any effect on my current save?

      DUBMO I'd like to know this too. I've been deleting the mod in Nexus Mod Manager then installing the latest version of the mod. Maybe I've just been lucky but that has worked ok for me.

      As long as you aren't loading between the delete and installing again, you won't have any issues doing it that way.

      The only thing you should need to worry about is load order. As it's a newly installed mod, it will be put at the end of your load order, regardless of where the previous version was at.

      Something that helped me was running the Nexus app as administrator (properties>compatibility)
      Also have your game and nexus directories (mod directory and install info) on the same drive (like G:\Games\...). Nexus gives a written warning about this but It doesn't give an error. I believe it's related to the virtual file installation nexus uses to allow different mod profiles.
      I had problems with nexus not installing stuff completely but doing these two things fixed it.

    Hi Kinggath.
    Xbox One X user here. Started a new game with Sim Settlements, Industrial Revolution and RoTC installed. Had a issue when getting to Museam of Freedom where i had double everything spawn, two terminals, two holotapes and double the amount of sensors.
    I followed your advice on disabling all, clean save, and reable; and had the items spawn normally.
    Not sure if this was a issue addressed in the video but thought i would share mine.
    Thanks again for these mods. If i could end with a request can you try and make named NPCs City Leaders. Abernathy and Warick should be in charge of their settlements

      No, if you go to your Mods screen, the first section it shows you should be "Updates Available' (or something like that), which will list all of the mods that need updates so you can choose which ones you want to apply.

    Can I reset a settlement? Can I remove everything that ROTC provided for example sanctuary hills I wanted it to be reset because it takes a lot of framerate and I cant play because of it.

    I have a bug to report. Every time I go into mods or new game I am stuck in endless loading. It all started when I was downloading Sim Settlements for Xbox One and it did not allow me to press "B" in order to exit out of the mod download screen in order to download another mod. When I turned my game off it was still at that screen. So I had to change games right quick and it made Fallout 4 go back to the main menu once I went back to Fallout 4. It is not my internet since I can play other games just fine with no lag. Now I cannot even go into the mod menu from the game in order to uninstall the mod since I am stuck in an endless loop of it loading the mod menu unless I change what game I am playing. I tried to load my saved games but it is also in the endless loading screen. The only thing that works is options/settings. I am typing this as I continue to wait for the game to load. The mod seems fun and I want to play F4 with Sim Settlements and Rise of the Commonwealth but it has literally made my game unplayable. Since, I can not do anything from the main menu except settings. Edit: Yes, I did turn my Xbox One off and on multiple times. I literally waited 30 minutes one time in order to load the mod menu.

      I think that I fixed the issue. I had to uninstall my game and reinstall it. The only downside is that I lost my season pass note so I lost all the DLC since all the DLC was uninstalled alongside the game. I can start a new game now.

      The next patch should eliminate those sorts of crashes for most users unless they are performance related. You can check if it's performance by going to somewhere nearby, say Concord and walking slowly into Sanctuary. If the crash doesn't occur, you can probably eliminate it through some of the things suggested here: simsettlements.com/web/wiki/index.php?title=Performance
      If the problem is just all of the scripts firing, the 3.1.1 patch (which will probably be out tomorrow), should prevent the crash.

    Just wanted to ask, is it possible to have the sanctuary auto build city leave the inside of the Sole Survivor's house alone? Or have an option for that? I like using it as a base, but I also want to use the city with that space as my personal home. Just a thought!

      You could wait until level 3 and then remove anything they've built. Or after we release the City Builder's Toolkit, someone could make a variation of our build with the player's house left alone.

      I figured that would be the solution, I've just been clearing out the rooms in the back as my city upgrades, so it's not too bad a problem at all. I do like how enclosed the house starts to feel, feels better defended which is great for fallout.

      Try the menu rescue feature in the Settlement Menu Manager holotape. If that doesn't work, you can try disabling SMM, loading your game, then saving a new copy and re-enabling SMM.

    I’m playing on Xbox One with Sim Settlements 3 in 1 and some other gameplay mods like Immersive Gameplay 4 and Fallout 2287. I assign Sturges as the leader and he starts building Sanctuary but after a few minutes in my game crashes. I have tried making multiple new games and deleting mods and nothing works. Are my gameplay mods somehow conflicting with Sim Settlements? If not, what is causing my game to crash?

      If this is an old playthrough, it could just be that the save is "worn out". Eventually save files can get to a point where adding new things is a problem.
      If this is a new character, try running the Performance Wizard before you start the City Plan. It can be found in the holotape under Tools > Configuration. The most common causes of crashes during a City Plan are from the Cinematic Mode, which should be disabled if you select your Xbox version during the Performance Wizard and let SS set your options.
      I'd also suggest not using the Sanctuary City plan on Xbox. It can be very intense in the later levels, and if you built in Abernathy or Red Rocket, it gets really bad since they are all loaded at the same time.

      You only need Sim Settlements and then Rise of the Commonwealth to use the city building feature and the plots. I'd highly recommend Settlement Menu Manager and HUDFramework as well, which can both go anywhere after Sim Settlements in your LO. If you have space, Industrial Revolution adds a ton of content to Sim Settlements, but is completely optional.

    800mb save file? mine is like 5 to 10 GB PROPABLY BIGGER. Did I do something wrong?

      Your .fos file should never go over 100 MB, even 100 MB is pretty high. The average save usually tops out around 40 MB. If you have an 5 GB save file something is wrong. Is it your save? Or just your installation of Fallout? Fallout itself definitely takes up multiple GB.
